Thought there was a great balance to the team today with Spearing in there

The Cabaye tackle was an absolute cowards tackle
You could see his change in stride to enable him to jump in and do Jay

At least when Jay got sent off he went trying to win the ball / fully committed and didnt intentionally go to do Dembele (unlike Cabaye today)

Thats the problem with refs they have NEVER played the game at any sort of competitive level

If they had they would know clearly the difference between intent and being committed

I made the video (hopefully you can see it as I am sure it will be blocked soon if not already) of that challenge.

See the second half of that video and his position. He saw it all and still didn't have a clue what just happened or simply decided to ignore it.

In either event, he should be suspended without the pay for 3-5 games when you miss a tackle like that.

Remember smiling and thinking to myself "you tell him, don't hold back".
Took a really nasty elbow tbf, concussion material. Could have ended far worse.

Gerrard, what can you say what haven't already been said. The man is simply irreplaceable for us. Absolute joy to watch when he's on his game.

Skrtel, back to his pre-injuries best Was a really good finish from Ba, but even better defending from Martin.

Apart from Ba, Newcastle was toothless. They passed the ball quite well on the second half, but that didn't lead even to a half a chance.

We are doing pretty, prettyyy good against top-half teams, Stevie's return will help us to dispatch those pesky relegation fodders

Nice way to end the year, fully deserved.

Worst thing was the ref was ideally placed and had his eyes on the Cabaye incident. The ref knew Spearing had been caught thus blew the whistle for immediate attention....but not a freekick (just a bounce in). WTF!!

Honestly, if they're getting paid 60k a year and I don't have to do lower league, or park, games then I want to be a ref. Its p*ss easy.

The referee was a joke, some really poor decisions. Surely the FA will have to look into the Cabaye incident seeing as the referee did nothing.

Thats because he knew exactly the type of delivery that was coming his way and thus started attacking the 6 yard box.

Downing really should take note on how to do it.

Gerrard makes that type of cross look easy but unfortunately it isn't. He puts so much top spin on the ball and always delivers it into the danger area. Something Downing and other players simply aren't capable of.

What position was Gerrard playing last night?

A few things from last night.

Our defence was yet again rock solid, a really really good back four we have atm. And we have two very good attacking backs as well.

CM struggled for control untill Gerrard came on, and it needs to get more physical now that Lucas is out.

Gerrard What can you say, such a fantastic players. Came in delivered passes, crosses, chances and a goal

If our wingers learned from Gerrard and started delivering crosses like Gerrard did, Carroll will soon find himself scoring goals, it was so obvious as soon as Gerrard stepped in. Other than that I thought Carroll had a good game, did well covering the ball and participated well in the build up.

And Bellamy what a signing he is, again last night amongst the MOM contenders. Signing of the season just behind Enrique.

Good perforamnce against a very deep ying Newcastle team and now we just need to keep the goals coming !!
