I can't say that we were toothless under Rafa because we scored more goals than any other team in the league before we had to sell and not replace key players.Originally posted by Lecter View PostWe dominated first half as well, but I think it was to do with us playing decent football (until the final ball)
So are you now admitting that our teams were toothless under Rafa
The big difference between Kenny and Rafa is that Rafa is excellent getting the best out of both defensive and attacking players.
Kenny hasn't exactly got the best out of our attacking players. Maybe one, Maxi.
Rafa got the best out player after player after player, it didn't matter if it was an attacking player or not. He knew how to fit him into the system.
Dalglish is a better man manager but tactically he isn't even close to be as good as Rafa, not even close.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

(not that I'm advocating the King getting the boot or anything, just that both had different strengths and weaknesses)

We actually dominated the first half and had the ball control before and after Reina's mistake and I am not so sure they let us play like that by design.Originally posted by Arn View PostWe dominated the second half because City let us do it and not because we played that great football.
You can let the opposition dominate if they aren't a threat the last third.
A tactic many teams used against us when we had Rafa as manager.
If we only had the quality in the final third I don't think the it would have ended up as it did.
They didn't do anything special.
As I said before we "lost" this match rather than they "won" it.
We made few big defensive mistakes and we really don't have anyone to blame but ourselves.
They looked very poor for the side that bursts with quality on the paper.Last edited by Mostar; 04-01-12, 12:41 AM.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Rafa got more out of wide players like Benayoun and Riera than Kenny got from Downing.Originally posted by Lecter View PostMagna Carta wasn't he one of those Spanish wide players Rafa wasted money on
Kenny isn't even close to get the best out of our attacking players. That is the problem and he can't blame that on anyone than himself.
He delivered 15 years ago but that was different times. Living in the past have very much to do with it.

Rafa getting the best out of players.. hmmmm
Defensive ones YES
Attacking ones not so much
Garcia, Babel, Rieira, Keane, Pennant etc... he never really got a lot out of them
Torres he managed it with, Benayoun yes maybe, Crouch also..
Kuyt is an inbetweender for me
Rafa was a great tactician and that was his major strength but it was also his biggest flawBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I don't think we are to far away from being a team that can challenge and win trophies tbh. We need a bit more quality (signings) in the final 1/3rd, and a bit more luck, but we play some really nice football at times.Modifying post.

Rieira not for me
