It was always going to be upheld IMO, two footed challenges are considered dangerous play to the letter of the law.

IMO because it was "two footed" it gives them the perfect chance to uphold the red card. Be amazed if it's overturned...which is a joke really as it was never a red in a million years.

I thought it looked reckless. It's exactly the sort of challenge that it appears the people who rule the game have been looking to remove from the game. The problem for me is that , as usual, the regulation of them by referees has been inconsistent. In this instance though I don't think they are helped by players, commentators or supporters who contribute to a culture of acceptance (whether that is good or bad for the game).

Kompany won the ball with one foot, never threatened Nani or compromised his safety, wasn't out of control. Maybe he could've shown a yellow due to two feet being off the ground but for me the law is an absolute ass. It was a really good tackle, and if Nani of all people isn't appealing for a foul then you know there's nothing wrong with it.

How many appeals have been successful though? The whole system doesn't work IMO, something has to be done.

I think it's something like 0.05% of cases overall that are successful.
