Albion whizz-kid reveals Gerrard's role in his move
Joao Teixeira

It helps if the former England captain was a team-mate and is still a friend.
Joao Teixeira has been the chief architect of Albion's overnight transformation in form and results.
The capture of the gifted young Portugese playmaker on loan from Anfield to the Amex for the season is due to the enduring relationship between Albion boss Sami Hyypia and his replacement as Liverpool skipper back in 2003, Steven Gerrard.
Teixeira has revealed the go-between role played by Gerrard in the deal struck a fortnight ago which has sparked so much excitement and expectation among Seagulls supporters.
The 21-year-old told The Argus: "I knew about it from Steven Gerrard. He told me that Sami had called him, so he (Gerrard) spoke a little bit with me and everyone in the club told me how Brighton like to play, kind of similar to Liverpool, so it was the best choice for me to come here.
"Stevie is the main man in Liverpool, the captain, so you look at him as the main example, not just me but everyone in the changing room."
Teixeira also spoke at Anfield with manager Brendan Rodgers, his assistant Colin Pascoe and first team coach Mike Marsh.
He was advised that a drop into the Championship under Hyypia was a good option at this stage of his career.
So far so good. A promising debut as a second half substitute at Birmingham, before he had even trained with his new team-mates, was followed by an early goal and sparkling full debut in the win at Leeds.
He was not quite as influential against Bolton at the Amex last Saturday but still provided moments which lifted the crowd and he scored the winning goal.
Teixeira was given a standing ovation when Hyypia took him off in the closing stages. The attacking midfielder is revelling in the Finn's formation.
"It suits me," he said. "I have more freedom so it's good for me. We try to play the ball on the floor, have possession. I think we have the chance to have a good season.
"I knew he (Hyypia) had ten years at Liverpool and was captain. Last year we went to Anfield to watch a legends game and he was the captain of the international legends.
"That was the first time I saw him. I had never met him before I came here but I'd heard a lot about him.
"I'm enjoying it. He has great ideas and I want to learn with him because I think he can help me.
"I want to score, assist, help the team and I want to play because I need to play. I came here to play.
"I am still under contract at Liverpool and, of course, one day I'd like to play there but now I am here I am just thinking about Brighton and helping them."
Teixeira will be back in the starting line-up at the Amex against Chalton tomorrow after coming on in extra-time in Tuesday's hectic Capital One Cup success at Swindon.
Anticipation will be high again but Teixeira has an engaging innocence. Following his matchwinning contributuion against Bolton he described the Amex as the "Brighton stadium - I don't know the name."
The former Sporting Lisbon prospect also has no fears about the growing possibility of receiving special attention from Championship opponents. He said: "I'm not worried about that, I'll do my job. We've got our formation, our tactics. The manager knows how we should play. Every team is different.
"I think I played well (against Bolton) but I think I played better at Leeds. I have to keep working and improving every day. I'm young so I will try to do my best and help the team. This is the most important thing.
"At the beginning it was really hard when I came here (to England). Now I am used to it. English football is really exciting. Everyone likes to watch it so I'm happy to be part of it.
"Everyone knows the Premier League in England is the best place to play football. Ronaldo, Nani, so many players have come to England, Portugese players, Spanish players, and they have made it here. I wanted to play here and now I am I'm happy."

i was speaking to a few lads from derby and they were gushing about andre wisdom from when he was there.
they were saying that he is now being alternated at RB and RCB at west brom.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Pretty sure he started every game at RB, although they have been waiting on Gamboa getiing fit, so maybe when he came on at the weekend, Wisdom was moved to the centre.Originally posted by baitman View Posti was speaking to a few lads from derby and they were gushing about andre wisdom from when he was there.

I assumed they would keep Wisdom at RB and play Gamboa in midfield, but I hope I'm wrong and they do start playing him in the middle, as he'll neved be good enough as a FB for us. His only chance IMO is as a CB, which I'm still confident he'll make a good one.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

ah, ok. im only going by what was said, i dont really watch many other teams or games.
he seems [from reports] to be doing well at rb, but as he is such a big lad the extra running might take its toll on him in future years. the sooner he is settles as a cb then he can learn his trade and hopefully come back ready to slot in to the team.removing all the weak links makes us stronger

Liverpool FC's Brad Smith was the star of the show during Swindon's 5-2 demolition of Sheffield United.
Smith provided two assists for Jonathan Obika and Andy Williams and spent the second half terrorising Craig Alcock down the left-hand side.
It was a display of a player growing in confidence into his new role as a wing-back, and after the game the 20-year-old said: "To be involved in the goals makes me really happy. If anyone is involved in the goals everyone’s happy.
“I’m used to playing left-back. I played left wing a few times in the England under-21s and made my debut left wing for Liverpool.
“It’s good to get up and down and it’s good when there’s not a winger there and you can go forward and Louis (Thompson) is there to help me and put through balls in for me. I’m enjoying it."
He added: "Playing week-in-week-out and then going away with Australia and getting two caps has helped with my confidence massively."
On-loan Reds defender Andre Wisdom played his part in West Brom's first win at White Hart Lane since 1984.
Toothless Tottenham failed to break down a resilient Baggies back line which included Liverpool's Wisdom as a James Morrison headed goal proved enough to claim all three points and a first win for coach Alan Irvine.
Brighton carved out a 0-0 draw against a visiting Blackpool side as the Reds youngster Joao Carlos Texeira lasted 63 minutes before being replaced by former Anfield great and new manager Sami Hyypia.
Luis Alberto played a key role in Malaga's thrilling 2-2 draw at Espanyol at the Power8 Stadium.
The hosts opened the scoring after 15 minutes thanks to Caicedo, however, it was from an Alberto corner that Camacho equalised with his head for Malaga on 52 minutes. Stuani put the home team back in front three minutes before the final whistle, however a Duda free kick in stoppage time saw the spoils shared.
Divock Origi managed just one shot on target during Lille's 0-0 draw with Montpellier before he was substituted on 81 minutes. Tiago Ilori didn't feature in Bordeaux's 2-1 win over Evian Thonon Gaillard.

Iago Aspas, meanwhile, didn't make the bench for Sevilla's 3-1 victory over Córdoba.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
