Given what I have seen of him so far this season and the last season at Granada I think he is not ready yet to genuinely contend for the starting job and BR clearly thinks the same.

The fact that Kolo didn't want to leave this summer certainly didn't help Ilori but I do think for a young player like Ilori playing regular football is better than sitting on the bench and playing a game here and there.

If he does get a decent run of games then I wouldn't disagree but I think the St Etienne match was the first time he's been picked: he might as well sit on our bench rather than theirs.

Ilori with another 90 minutes in the league, 2-1 win over Rennes.

            Divock Origi

On loan Liverpool striker Divock Origi continued his fine start to the season, scoring the only goal of the game in Lille’s 1-0 victory over Bastia. The 19 year old striker has now scored three goals in six league appearances for his loan club. Origi played the entire 90 minutes and was a constant menace to Bastia’s back line with his incisive, pacey runs. The weekend win takes Lille to the top of the table and the French side will be hoping to retain their place next weekend when they face Lyon.

            Jordan Ibe

Jordan Ibe started for Derby in their weekend fixture against Bolton following his impressive performance against Cardiff. Steve McClaren’s side coasted to a 2-0 victory and Ibe again looked bright whenever he was on the ball, running directly at Bolton’s back line. In addition, the winger tested Lonergan consistently and was unlucky not to get a goal before being substituted after 76 minutes. Liverpool fans will be hoping he can continue his impressive start to life with his new club and push himself into the first team picture next season.

            Joao Carlos Teixiera

Teixiera was an unused substitute for Brighton in their goalless draw with Nottingham Forest. Forest lost their place at the top of the Championship table as the Seagulls earned a deserved point. Brighton were resolute in their defending, superbly keeping out the hosts on several occasions. Neither side was able to create much during the game and it’s fair to say Sami Hyppia’s side missed the creative spark of Teixiera. After two successive 0-0 draws, Hyppia stated that he was ‘very happy with the clean sheet, but if you want to win games, you have to score goals and today, we couldn’t create enough.’

            Luis Alberto

Luis Alberto started the game on the bench for Malaga in their 1-0 defeat to the hands of Getafe. The Madrid club picked up a vital three points thanks to Michel’s first half goal. Malaga were poor at the weekend and struggled to really test Getafe’s goalkeeper. Sergio Sanchez had a great chance to put Malaga in front but his header from close range narrowly missed the target. The Spaniard came on after 62 minutes, replacing Garcia Samuel. However, he was unable to make an impact for Malaga.

            Andre Wisdom

Andre Wisdom continued at right back for West Brom at the weekend as they took on a Burnley side who have struggled to make the step up from the Championship so far this season. The Baggies blew Sean Dyche’s side away with an impressive 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Dawson, Berahino and Dorrans. The Liverpool loanee will be delighted at the amount of game time he is being given by Alan Irvine and will hope it can help him improve and make an impact when he returns to Anfield. The Baggies were impressive at the back and dealt with anything Burnley threw at them. Wisdom, nullified the Clarets attacking threat throughout the game and got forward to support the team when the opportunity arose. Hopefully Wisdom can continue in this manner and show that he has what it takes to be a right back in the Premier League.

            Tiago Illori

Tiago Illori started for Bordeaux at the weekend against Stade Rennes. The defender’s loan club ran out 2-1 winners, putting them top of the table after eight games. Illori put in a solid performance at the back and will be hoping to kick on and solidify his place in the side. Hopefully, the Liverpool man can get some more game time in the next few weeks and show what he can do.

            Iago Aspas

Iago Aspas didn’t feature during Sevilla’s weekend fixture against Atletico Madrid. The Spaniard watched on as his side crashed to a slumping 4-0 defeat. Aspas will have been disappointed not to be involved in the game and I’m sure he’ll want a chance to prove himself.

            Brad Smith

Liverpool’s youngster wasn’t involved during Swindon’s impressive 3-0 victory against Barnsley. The away side scored three second half goals to stretch their unbeaten run in League One to seven games with victory over a struggling Barnsley side who are now 21st in the table.

Has Coates even played for Sunderland yet this season???

It would be great to see one of the WBA centre backs get injured as well and give Wisdom a chance at centre back. He is one player who i think has the talent to make it at LFC. But the fact that Manquillo has started well might end up costing him. Put it this way, had Wisdom stayed at Anfield last season, it is likely that he would have got into the team ahead of Flanagan - and who knows, maybe he could have cemented his place then. It will be interesting to see but he appears to have started well for WBA.

They could have played at different times and both been correct when match reports were written
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Ilori got injured in the last game, and will be facing some time out. Shame, as it looks like he was doing well.
