Come off it, Buttso. Chelsea's search for a manager has been in the media for months. It's not surprising it's lower profile after all that time and in the wake of a...grits teeth...a Champions League win...vomitsOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostIts more what he's not done. Obviously getting rid of him right now would be madness. But as MD he should be managing this process and also the media, to keep the baying hordes satisfied.
PR wise I don't think we have managed this process all that well. I agree on the hype, but I don't think the amount of managers that have reportedly turned us down reads well. Put it this way Chelsea are managing to move towards their decision a bit more subtly..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

No, I'm talking about General Chang who was a Klingon officer and chief of staff to Gorkon, Chancellor of the Klingon High Council in 2293.Originally posted by danperkins View PostHi Neil you're obviously talking about Mike Chang from the hit TV show Glee?

It could be argued that Ayre's not a PR guy and that's why we employ a press team; I think we're quick to blast lofty figures in the club on nothing other than hear’ say. We certainly like to point the finger in their direction and perhaps we look for fault when there is none. From a Managing Director, I'd expect direction which will consist of elements which we can't or won't see. In an ideal world, we wouldn’t hear anything from a football club’s MD, but such is the media and the public’s craving for information, that his name is almost thrown about like a name in a pub.
I honestly don’t know whether Ayre is as good – or as bad – as is made out, but he must be there on merit.

I dunno, maybe I'm overly critical because it is the club I follow, but I don't know if the round of supposed rejections was that well handled. The way it has been portrayed is that pretty much everyone who has ever watched a game has been approached and most of them have turned us down - I am sure that is not the case, but why let these rumours circulate?Originally posted by Neil Young View PostCome off it, Buttso. Though Chelsea have had a lot of publicity also, I guess the fact they had an interim manager has helped deflect attention, as has the aforementioned bauble that they won.
I just think we should be able to manipulate the media a bit more and get the press working for us. But I am a dreamer.
I think I have nearly run out of opinion on this matter (subject to some hard and fast twitter rumour
).
Oh, and nice to have you back old bean

They like most of us have no real idea what is going on at the club and are jumping to conclusions they've probably made through looking at Sly Sports and the Daily Mail.
FSG have not done anything wrong as yet and IMO are doing the right thing by going about looking for a new manager in silence.
