In fairness he did have some good pieces in Iniesta, Puyol, Xavi, Messi and Dani Alves but he actually built the team and turned them into the powerhouse which no other Barca manager has done it before him who also had the privilege managing same players and imo he deserves much more credit than that.

Winning 14 out of 19 possible trophies is impressive to say at least...

I am not sure he could cut it on a wet winter wednesday night in Stoke

Exactly! His achievements have been to maintain Barcelona's status as the best team. How would that translate into our situation?

I disagree that he maintained the status quo as he did much more than that.

That said, would love to see what he could do with us as that would be an ultimate challenge not just for him for any top notch manager atm.

Anyone who questions Guardiola's achievements at Barca, and/or thinks all he did was waltz in, pick 11 players and that's it, simply hasn't been paying attention. There are opinions and then there is being wrong.

It is amazing that some would actually pass on the manager on top of his game that can literally walk into any club in the world if he chooses to do so..

You couldn't be more wrong man. That is just plain false.

Guardiola inherited a team who were neither champions of their own league nor champions of Europe.

They'd been hammered 4-1 by Real, who had won the previous TWO La Ligas.

Guardiola came in, instantly had the guts and foresight to break up the team and sell Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Deco. He also changed Messi's position with astonishing results. I could go on for hours but it's too nice a day, but seriously you're talking complete and utter rubbish mate.

We must at least ask him if he would be interested in taking us back to where we belong.
If it's true what was posted on here about D.W claiming that ferguson will retire next season, we have to bring him in before them or Chelsea do.

He can attract the top players too.

Mate if you read my initial post you would see I said I would take him today but not wait until january. I also went on to say I think messi makes that team work. No messi and they struggle a little. Until he has succeeded with inferior players elsewhere no one can guarantee he's the dogs bollocks. Unlike a mourinho. That is all. Martinez or pep? The question needs no answering.

It ****s me off you can't question certain people these days if it breaks with popular opinion without being mocked. That's not aimed at you.

                              Say what?

Guardiola needs to *prove* himself at Newcastle before taking a backward step to us? Well quite obviously Alan Pardew is our guy.

Anyone underestimating the job Pep did at Barca should read Graham Hunters book about it. He made them what they are today.
