He played a different role. Actually think him playing deeper for us would suit him now. In general I think there was a problem with our CM positioning off the ball - no cover of the defense and often hey weren't offering themselves. Allen much better than Gerrard and Sahin in both respects. Shelvey did okay when he came on too.

I think it will take a while for that unit to gel. We were up against an inspired Diaby today and a team who have played in the same way for ages. We dominated possession but left too many gaps and were picked off on the counter. I think Arsenal are going to do really well this season.
