But didn't we find teams kind of figured us out a bit? Sit deep, defend for your lives and we struggle. Sometimes it's muscle that gets you out of those situations not trying to walk it with intricate passing. See Zlatan, Kane and Costa.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostHence the purchases of Mane and Salah, and the dynamism of Keita (should we buy him). We'll have an extremely fluid team and if it's singing, is hard as **** to defend against which is how we sacked teams like Watford, Leicester and Hull last season.Always borrow money from a pessimist. its no good putting midgets up against a couple of thuggish defenders.
i am shocked that firmino is 5' 11 and a 1/2"removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Whilst we absolutely do not play that way, and I don't want us to, it would be nice to have that as an option. That then brings us back to quality though, if we aren't going to completely change the way we play to accommodate a top level big old unit up front, then we have to look further down in terms of abilityOriginally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostBut didn't we find teams kind of figured us out a bit? Someone like Llorente would seem like a decent fit. Getting on, still strong and scores but would (presumably) be happy being a plan B option
Which is probably why Chelsea look to be in for himI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

what we need is a big strong lad who is also athletic enough to still be an effective presser and worker and fit in with the team ethic.
we can still modify or tweak the system to give us variation, but no good having to switch players around if we decide to launch it.
morata please.removing all the weak links makes us stronger

Does Origi not meet that criteria?Originally posted by baitman View Postwe dont need a 'plan B'

Yeah for a big guy he really needs some aggression, gets pushed off the ball & does seem to give up far too easy. Has a bit of the Emile Heskey's about him. For me though his problem is game intelligence. Doesn't seem to make the right runs or make the right decisions on the ball. Still young though.Last edited by danperkins; 07-07-17, 05:08 PM.

If we are keeping Sturridge, then it's a toss-up in terms of what happens with Origi and Ings for me.
We'd have Firmino, Sturridge, Solanke, Origi and Ings on the books. One of them is probably going to be sold or loaned out.
Even if we played a diamond at times, when, let's say we have injuries to our wide players, that's still far too many forwards to have. I know folks say Solanke will probably feature more often in the U23's, but he was after first team football at Chelsea, and only played once.

When Solanke signed, the club specifically said he's signed to play U-23's this year. Why would they say that if they had first team plans for him?Originally posted by Phoenix07 View PostIf we are keeping Sturridge, then it's a toss-up in terms of what happens with Origi and Ings for me.

Sturridge will be injured come August and Ings won't be fit, so all that leaves is Firmino and Origi. We definitely aren't oversubscribed IMO.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The press reports said he'd be used in the u23's for us, but he still wanted first team action at Chelsea, and never got it. It'd be a bit of a sideway move for him if he was just for the u23's, rather than feature in the cups and sub appearances here and there.Originally posted by RedReet View PostWhen Solanke signed, the club specifically said he's signed to play U-23's this year. Why would they say that if they had first team plans for him?
