shame the manager is so insistent on playing it his way with no plan b. the 2-1 or 1-2 in the middle doesnt seem to work at the moment, maybe as we dont have the beef we need to make this system work for us.
the midfield three get played through too easily, or bypassed with long balls or sharp passing.

My predicted team for today was as follows... although I personally would've played Henderson I thought Rodgers would put Shelvey in there...

Allen works perfectly - in theory - in the 4-3-3 that Rodgers wants to implement but it doesn't work right now with the rest of the players we have.

We need to use a system and a formation which suits the squad, not keep trying to bash square pegs into round holes.

Good second half, Allen needs a long rest, Sterling too. Sturridge very bright, could've done better with his two chances after the goal.

Pub defending for both goals though. Agger and Skrtel are really making it difficult to live up to their great defenders tag this season. Shown up in almost every game where they come up against top teams.

Knowing that he's left footed, I'd rather see Sturridge coming inside from the right hand side. He had a couple of good chances there and although he has a powerful shot - a right footer might have opened up their body and played it across the keeper instead of shooting for the near post.

Shocking first half. Better second. Our striking situation is looking better with Sturridge and Borini, now we have a whole other problem with midfield. No doubt Allen and Lucas were woeful. With Gerrard getting deeper we had basically three defensive mids first half. It was pathetic. How bad has Lucas been since that injury. Really hope he find form soon because we need him covering the back four. Allen is not good enough for that role and doesn't provide ANY attacking threat so I'm not sure what the point of him is. He looked better in the second half only because they stopped pressing us and he had more time. When he was pressed he was shockingly poor. Gerrard wasn't much better but at least he can tackle and has some attacking threat.

Of all of them Henderson deserves his place. I love Sterling but he either needs a rest or to be told to take people on. Him and downing are not doing enough. Our beat attacking threat on the wing is Johnson which tells you something. Though the defense did ok. Wisdom was better than I thought. Fell asleep for both goals. It's a shame that Rodgers went so negative from the start. I hope he has learned for the city and arsenal games coming up.

Hopefully those two will get the opportunity to rest soon, I'd play Henderson ahead of Allen at the moment, and with Sturridge signing an Borini coming back, hopefully this will allow us the opportunity to rest Sterling as we have been relying on him too much so far this season.
