But if Villa had Messi a. they probably wouldn't have been relegated, and b. they wouldn't be sat here at the end of the season going "that Messi's a right good player but if we sell him we could get in a target man and a bit of pace down the right."

Same with Leicester - they'll be doing everything they can to keep Vardy, Mahrez & Kante. It's very very rare that a team loses its best player and improves.

It's true though! If we sell Phil then we lose another of our best palyers at a time when we need to be keeping hold of them in order to help attract quality to us. What sign does it give out to potential quality signings when the best players are leaving us. Especially now we have no European football whatsoever!

I totally agree with you bud, that's what I've been saying all along, we as a club can't keep selling our best players as a) it puts us back 2 or 3 years, b) we never ever replace them with the same quality or better and c) were continually being labled as a selling club which we don't need to hear
