Would fear for Perin playing behind our backline. He looks to have amazing reflexes and is a shot stopper along the lines of Mignolet, but he is not really a cross catcher and tends to stay on his line more often than not.

Pretty quick sprinter from what little I have seen of him so maybe he could adapt to a team playing a higher line and use his pace to come further out when needed.

Buying foreign is tough as you don't know how they'll adapt to this league. In his first game he'd be getting clattered and would have players surrounding him and boxing him in. It would be a massive culture shock. But as we've seen with Migs, even if they're prem proven, it still might not work out.

If he's a good shot stopper, and able to play as a sweeper keeper, he'd be a step in the right direction. The rest would have to be developed over time. It's worth doing if he is highly rated. Personally, I'd probably look to bring him in at the same time as an experienced shot stopper.

I remember when Houllier signed Kirkland & Dudek and effectively said goodbye to Westerveld. I've seen us linked with Cech. Signing Cech and Perin would be the right kind of idea. It didn't really work out for Ged, but the idea was correct IMO.
      Forwards.......

I've never heard of him to be honest.

The second save in this clip is hilarious. I think even you'd have made it Sarb:

Pure pressure coming in and being our number 1 so young. A few poor games and our fans will give him all kinds of a abuse

If that is a video of his highlights then pass. He seems to often spill the ball into dangerous areas. Looks brave in 1 v 1 situations, but if he continues with that technique of rushing out at oncoming players it's only a matter of time before he gets hurt.

Mignolet will come good, best keeper in the league. Just lost his confidence.

Judging by what is said about Perin's qualities above, is he really the right style of keeper then? Pretty clear we need to break the bank for Neur

His best saves are the ones that came directly at him? Thats a poor video.

That video is not an great advert for Perin. However, with the best keepers it sometimes looks like what you describe - correct positioning and decision making being the key. De Gea seems like that a lot of the time at the minute.

Although Germany is where I would be heading for a new young keeper. Leno at Bayer would be my choice if we want a young keeper who is already pretty experienced for his age, and who looks like he is already first team ready at this level but has the potential to get a lot better. He is not the type of keeper who would have lots of youtube comps of flashy looking saves as a lot of his best work involves him getting into the right position to make a simple interception or a simple save, but he is a very good shot stopper when he needs to be, and he is a vocal enough keeper.

If we wanted to go down the route of getting a very experienced keeper and were happy to buy someone a bit older, then Mandanda at Marseilles would be who I would go after. Fantastic shot stopper, and a proper leader/organiser of his back line, hence him being the team captain as well. Quick to come off his line when needed, and decent enough on crosses despite not being the tallest of keepers. Turns 30 next year though so might be seen as too old.

Or perhaps lets just **** em all off and let them develop and excel elsewhere
The only flaw in your argument, is that he doesn't play in a red shirt... more a sickly purple one..

Maybe there's the problem... Get back to green shirts

Was watching a game at Heron Eccles a few weeks ago and there was a kid who must have been about 16 who looked like a better goalkeeper than Mignolet. I honestly think that if we put anyone in net they would be better than Mignolet. It's a key position and we're unbelievably weak, we need a decent first choice goalkeeper and a better back-up option than Jones.
