I guess the best way to look at it is you can only beat the team you're playing and after 17 games we've been the best side in the league points wise, can we stay up there probably not right at the top but we've good reason to think we can and should be there or there about come the back end of the season.

If we're within 3 points of all our rivals, knowing they've to come to Anfield in the second half of the season as well as having Eurpoean matches to contend with, we have to be confident.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Odd, we're playing great, have won 4 in a row, scored 17 in those games and have the best player on the planet. A few defensive issues but we'll do just fine.
Its not negativity - its just a reflection of how tight it is coupled with the fact we still have two difficult away games coming up.

See I keep hearing that we'll have all our tough away games out the way and they have to come to Anfield. But to me we're beating the smaller teams at home with ease so maybe we've got most of easy home fixtures out the way now because Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Spurs and Everton are all capable of picking up points. I'm not being negative but I just want to take it 1 game at a time, its ridiculously tight at the moment, Arsenal were 5 points clear a couple of weeks ago and they could be 4th by the end of tonight.

It is really, it's always "if/when we lose...." and hardly ever "if/when we win..."

We had all the "when we lose x will be above us" stuff before Spurs and we smashed them 5-0.

Heck we should know already it hardly ever works out like that, we've spent the last 4 years being like "when Arsenal and Spurs lose there, we'll beat Wigan and only be 2 points behind" then we lose and one of the other two wins a hard game!

So when we say we'll win and don't that's bad and when we say we'll lose and don't that bad? Now I'm really confused

Evertons next 6 games are very winnable.

Yeah a good chance for them but then theyve already failed to beat Cardiff, Crystal Palace, West Brom and Norwich and failed to score in 3 of those.

I'm convinced their form will drop off soon. Even though they're winnable on paper I think they'll start to slip up in the next few games.

Everton will drop points in the next few games.
                          Are we winning?

Well the way I see it is I fancy our chances of beating anyone at Anfield so as long as our destiny is in our own hands I’ll remain optimistic.

Taking one game at a time is all well and good, but doesn’t make much of a discussion in a thread about the title race.

                              It really isn't.

Some people are being realistic and managing their expectations. Well some people are.

Others are being optimistic and believe that we've got a great chance to win the league.

Others still, the properly negative ones are nowhere to be seen (until we lose again).

But I guess you only see the world in black and white so whatever really.
                              Oh I don't know.

A look at Everton's bench yesterday will tell you they won't be winning the league. When the injuries hit,and they will, they'll drop away. They lost Pienaar yesterday and Deulofeu is out already. They only have Jelavic as backup cos Kone is injured. We've had major injuries and coped quite well so far.
