I would have said that apart from a coupel of brain farts (the penalty and that header) he had a solid, if unspectacular game. Just needs to be more decisive in his passing and a bit calmer in possesion, but you never know, that could come with game time...

There is a decent defender in there trying to come out, he's just still trying too hard or anxious when he plays.
He wasn't making elementary errors like that last season.
His decision making is shot at the moment.
Interesting to see who Rodgers pairs with Skrtel on Sunday, Can more composed and better on the ball, Lovren more dominant in the air, better recovery pace but error proneThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

It was hardly makeshift. England right back, 20m signing and first choice left back. The only person arguably 'make shift' is Can, but you can make a pretty decent case for him being our best centre back. The fact that we are talking about trying to limit exposure to the defence just shows how poorly organised we are at the back.Originally posted by Norbs View PostHaving three defensI've minded midfielders limited his expose last night. That's the problem top centre backs make mistakes like that once or twice a season, if a defender makes those kinds of mistakes once or twice a game he isn't good enough. It doesn't just apply to Lovren it applies to all our CBsThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Do you know what, I've seen glimpses of some talent in Lovren. Not much albeit but glimpses.
He can use both feet. His tackling although at times is wayward, when he gets it spot on it's actually pretty good. His positioning in terms of eying a potential through ball and cutting it out is ok.
Apart from that he's ****e. He needs to learn to calm down a bit and relax, he's too eager to do something with the ball. Either get rid of it to another player too quickly, or hoof the ****ing thing away. He never plays with any time on the ball like Can does.Last edited by Slinky Skills; 14-04-15, 01:14 PM.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. I think his positioning is terrible, I also think he's a poor footballer with poor technique. I still can't believe we paid 20 million quid for him, as Rich said, he's abysmal.Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostDo you know what, I've seen glimpses of some talent in Lovren. You can't play Lovren and Skrtel together as Lovren is **** and Skrtel needs a better player next to him to play well.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostInteresting to see who Rodgers pairs with Skrtel on Sunday, Can more composed and better on the ball, Lovren more dominant in the air, better recovery pace but error proneOriginally posted by fah-qDidn't someone once see Philip Schofield ****ting into a crisp packet?

It was pretty makeshift. It's not a back four that have played much together, Johnson and Lovren have both been out of favour and if everyone was fit and available we wouldn't have seen that defence last night.Originally posted by captainfog View PostIt was hardly makeshift.
