Bar 20 mins against Sevilla, he has been consistently good so far this season.

He was poor positionally and reckless the whole game against sevilla but got away with it. What I will agree with is that he is everyone's favourite for getting pelters from fans. Which isn't fair. Other players who are underperforming get away with it.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostBar 20 mins against Sevilla, he has been consistently good so far this season.

Ok so that'd be a poor 63 mins then. Either way, it's his only poor performance that I can recall so far this season.Originally posted by Big-Red-Ed View PostHe was poor positionally and reckless the whole game against sevilla but got away with it. Given that we're now one game from December, that suggests a considerable improvement in form. His reaction against Chelsea was also very encouraging. And I'm speaking as someone who had totally written him off..

Look, I've never been a fan of him. I have at times commented on how he's improved but equally when he's done a **** up I've been on to him.
I'm just of the opinion that him along with a number of others are just not good enough for this football club, it really is as simple as that. I don't trust him as a footballer as he's made more mistakes in the past than he's done good.
I'd rather not have him in the team full stop along with Klavan, Lovren and Mignolet as they're all ****e but I'm not the Manager so I have to go with what Klopp decides. Hopefully long term none of them will be playing for this Football club and in an ideal situation we will get far better quality in.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. Worrying though thatFloppKlopp has had so many windows to strengthen the defence but has kept faith with a bunch of turds.

You beat me to it.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostHim playing well means just that, he has been a consistent performer this season both in defence and overlapping in attack. For him to play well in over a dozen games and have one poor one, and have people thinking the dozen games are the exception and the one is the rule is bizarre to say the least. Klopp plays him because he is doing what he is asking him to do, he wants a quick attacking fullback to create space and give an option out wide, and he picks him over Robertson because he thinks he's better at this than Robertson. He also knows that asking a full back to play like this means that they won't always be in the best defensive position which is why he doesn't freak out about it like many fans.
summed up perfectly.

His very best is bang average compared with other fullbacks. Not making mistakes is no reason to stop Robertson having a chance.
People seem to think that he is this full back that is so good going forward that it justifies his inclusion. It's bull****. He gets into positions but ****s up the final ball. 18 appearances this season and 1 assist, no goals, is not good enough at all.

3 assists gets you in the league's top 20 in fairness. Agree with the broader point to a degree though.Originally posted by frank the tank View Post

It is a tad concerning, he did try and get VVD in and has done well to bring both Gomez and Trent through but overall it's a pretty poor defence, I'd even add Matip into that too as I don't overly rate him either.Originally posted by Tee View Post

As above hopefully they'll all get ****ed off soon so we won't have to see any of them again.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

He's a left back, we don't score by flinging crosses into the box so of course he's not going to feature in the assists table. He gets into positions, that's his job, and it let's the wide players move inside so they can be a goal threat, because with Firmino up top they are our main goal threat.Originally posted by frank the tank View Post

Guess what, I'm not.
Look, take your pick:
1) You are dead good at understanding this football lark, better than Klopp and his coaching team and Lopetegui (he's the Manager of Germany by the way). When you see Moreno you see someone who "goes missing every game" and who's best is "bang average compared with other fullbacks"."Robbo should start ahead of Moreno every time". They are therefore complete ****ing morons who can't see the blatantly obvious and have the audacity to deny your amazing insight.
2) Although probably not the LB that Klopp has always dreamed about, he is being given specific instructions ever day in training about how he should play the role he's being given, in the context of the wider functioning of the team which maybe we don't fully understand. Despite occasional lapses in concentration he is understanding his instructions and following them well enough to deserve his place in the team ahead of our other full back options.
I'm suggesting #2, take your pick.Last edited by Kenneth; 28-11-17, 11:59 AM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years
