The manager - where are you at?

Personally dont think Rodgers contribution towards last season can be diminished in any way. He played a system that worked and got the best out of Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling. Played some brilliant stuff. However, dont think he contribution to the current style can be underplayed either. To go from what we did last season to a style of play that didnt work for him here in his first 6 months, and which is quite easy to play against, is poor.
It's a pretty boring style in all honesty. Passing for passing sake. And I dont think his team or squad is comprised of players comforable and who can easily keep the ball for a long time. Id say at at least 3 of his back 4 and the GK cant play it, and they are the ones it starts from

Agree.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostWell I thought last night was a start. Pretty awful but a start nonetheless. Got to go on a little run now, although it's still hard to see where a win's coming from.
I'm a bit disappointed (if not surprised) by how quickly many of you have given up on Rodgers. I really thought he had credit more in the bank after last season? It seems he's spent that pretty ****ing quickly with most of you.
My confidence is admittedly waning in him by the game, but we've got to stand by him and hope he can pull us through this dry spell. A couple of wins against Stoke and Leicester and things could quickly turn around.
If we have a decent run before Christmas we could easily be:
- Within touching distance of the top 4 by Christmas (we're only 5 points off now)
- Through to the Champions League knock out stages
- In the Capital One Cup semi-finals
You'd have to be an absolute ballbag to want him sacked mid-season after that.

Not disagreeing with you, there has been a turn against him a bit. But I think its more that becuase of his stubborness, people dont see a light at the end of the tunnel and can only see more of the same.Originally posted by Pablo View PostAgree.

The list you made of where we could be is great, and if that happens then everyone would be happy, but unless he changes its unlikely to happen, and being:
Out the champions league
Miles off 4th
Out the Crapital one cup
And its a very different picture that could have been avoided if he changes his approach.

Lost something like 9 out of 19 games this season. About 4 points from the drop, regressing in style of play and conceded 23 odd goals in last 11 away games or aomething. Struggling to score. Fans well within their rights to question his position and believe he wont turn it round. Nothing to indicate he will

I think it's maybe Brendans personality, some just don't get it or like it, and even when we were winning and looking like Title winners last season there were many who still didn't like what he said or how he said it.
I think he's very much a marmite type of guy, no not that he likes marmite Slinky!, i mean that you either love or hate the way he does things.
Also, i think there were loads of fans that didn't quite feel last season was all down to Brendan's managerial skills, and that it was more a coming together of a lot of factors that benefitted us.
So when the cracks appear......some stick the knife in, i'm not one btw, but i am in the camp of being.....nervous about how good BR really is as a manager, and is he the right man at the right time, which i had thought he was, but am now not so sure.
Trouble is, it's too early to tell really, which again is unsettling, but means he needs time, because if last season was a coming together of circumstances that helped the team, it could just as easily be said that it's the same coming together of circumstances but in an opposite way that is hampering us now.
As in Suarez leaving rather than being in inspired form for us.
Sturridge not playing.
Gerrard fretting.
Other players witnessing all this...and fretting.
BR....ripping his plans up and starting again.
Loads of new players to integrate.
CL.
Other teams adding quality players we tried to sign.
etc etc.

I dont want him sacked today BUT if things dont improve then the pressure will only increase and his position will rightly come under immense scrutinyOriginally posted by Pablo View PostAgree.

IMO FSG wont sack him mid-season unless we are bang in a relegation scrap but it wouldnt surprise me if they didnt back him in January. Well so far all indications are that FSG seem to be more supportive of him than virtually all of our "supporters", which for me says a lot.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI dont want him sacked today BUT if things dont improve then the pressure will only increase and his position will rightly come under immense scrutiny

I'm just a little disappointed how quickly the modern football fans turn and give up. Rodgers almost led us to the title but a few months later the vitriol he is receiving is frightening.
Liverpool fans are obviously not alone in this, but I'd say we're becoming one of the worst at it.

FSG may not want to sack him but fan pressure plays a big part nowadays. Costs a shedload of money to go and watch games. If they are unhappy with results, how we play etc then they're going to probably change opinions a lot quicker than they may have done in the past.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI dont want him sacked today BUT if things dont improve then the pressure will only increase and his position will rightly come under immense scrutiny

Lots turned on a club legend in Kenny. So Rodgers doesn't really have a chance of much of a break either
