When has a player proved themselves over pre season and averted being sold? Just feels like a standard line that's trotted out.

If the manager has decided to sell the player then preseason form won't avert a sale. But i'm not sure that we have decided to sell Origi. I think he's on the list of maybes. I think Klopp would be happy to have him around and believes that he could do a job, but equally feels he's not a key player and if a reasonable offer came in we'd be happy to let him go. If in preseason training he impresses and shows that he has improved while out on loan or at least got back to where he was before his injury then Klopp may think that he is more keen to keep him than let him go.

I imagine it is more about evaluating a player who has been away for a year than deciding to keep him on the basis of preseason

and any good performances in pre-season allows the club to put players in the shop window to attract some buyers.

They are obviously looking to move Sturridge and Ings on. At things stands that leaves our squad with Origi, Solanke, and Brewster as the people who can be used (individually or together) to give the Fab Three a break but still win games for us. Lallana could I suppose be added to that list, although he has been doing his best work coming from midfield. The Ox, when fit again, is a ditto. Could I suppose add Woodburn.

But none of these names frighten me yet. We need a name that means people don't break out into a cheer when they replace one of S, F or M.

I think we will see Solanke as a different prospect as Klopp will have worked out how to use him better.

I think Solanke will stay with us till Xmas at least so the boss can work with him & I think unless we get a decent bid for Origi we’ll keep him. Ings & Sturridge will be sold imo.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Edwards deserves a knighthood if he gets 100 million for that lot.

Those values seem optimistic (although the market is crazy) I don't think i've seen anyone linked with Origi so £27m seems mad, similarly I don't see us getting that for Grujic or Ojo

Interesting that Sturridge wasn't mentioned in those pieces. Like I've said already, I can definitely see him used as a No.10, and we mix it up as a 4-2-3-1. Solanke wasn't mentioned either (transfer or loan), so that would suggest he's staying too.

The values are more than a little hopeful, but at least its a starting point.
The echo article also mentioned wanting to sign grijic up to a longer term contract and maybe loan him out again, there is defo a decent player in there.

There are no real shocks in there the closest would be Grujic being sold rather than going on loan somewhere but there have been murmurs of something with him (the comments from Colin about his loan move there).

Also I would be a little worried about a backup keeper if all Ward, Mignolet and Karius were sold, but you aren't surprised by each individually going.

For me we'very always had to keep an experienced striker, I thought it might have been Origi but him or Sturridge made sense
