Not an obvious tweak! I'd just go with Lucas and Can in the middle with Coutinho ahead of them and Firmino, Sturridge with Milner wide.

    Any news of Lallana?

I really like Jordan Henderson but is he good enough to be captain of Liverpool?
Sometimes I think the poor guy wants to be Stevie. He puts a shift in, runs a about, but is he a Liverpool captain?

              Some quality slagging off here

Horrendousen is becoming an ever-present and massive weak link in our side. That foot injury is either still hampering him a lot, or as i suspected all along, he's just not very good at football. Dude can run around a lot though, i'll give him that.

Studge didn't really look like he was putting in much effort, but maybe thats just me being biased because i hate him so much.

Thought Lucas was superp at CB again. So poised (apart from that awful back pass) and his reading of the game and swift ability to cut out danger puts our permanent CB's to shame. I'd keep playing him there.

Cout and Firmy looking the goods. More game time together can only be a good thing

I thought it was an above average performance, bordering on good. We looked more than decent in the first half with certain elements showing signs of a Klopp side coming through. Our pressing was excellent, our approach play was magical in places and our movement was a definite positive. We just couldn't get it together in the final moments which is understandable when we have our three best players getting their first minutes together and two of those returning from injury.

Our second half performance dropped. Possibly because a cup final may be paying in the back of the minds of a few players (knocks, fitness, etc) and Klopp wanting to keep Sturridge and Coutinho fresh for Sunday. Combine that with the nerves of seeing us through to the next round and the inevitable push Augsburg they were going to give, we did enough. Just.

Efficient is probably the word, with glimpses of promise.

Did just enough. That game was basically an accurate representation of my time at school.

More than decent early on, and scraping by in my later years with an eye on the weekend

My feelings too, if we had taken one of those chances, then we'd having a different conversation. No injuries, Sturridge, Coutinho and Origi eased in, decent enough.

Credit to the Augsberg fans over the two legs, they really sang their hearts out and added to the atmosphere in both legs.

I wonder if the German media will ridicule them for "celebrating" a loss.......

I feel like we are like a Roast Dinner without the most important ingredient , the Roast Beef is missing.

look all fancy at times but when you get into it something is missing.

Then this leads to the last five minutes us panicking at the back and Midfield, really agreed with Don Hutchison about our midfielders not knowing when to just stay and close out the game,

Whoah! Whoah! Whoah! You mean the roasties, right?

I think there were positives to take from last night, but you're right, something it not right. Personally, I think it's our midfield.

Looks like I missed the best part of the game (sold a bike on fleabay and the guy turned up at 6...) so I caught the last 15 minutes of the 1st half and the second.

From what I saw, I didn't think we looked very good at all, but then its a difficult time to judge this squad as our best players have just returned from injuries and we have a cup final on the weekend. That said, they had so many players missing from their starting line up, I expected a more dominant display.

I think its more gravy. All the main ingredients are there, but we're just missing the gravy on top to finish it off.

Klopp's 4-2-3-1 requires specialists. We saw it with Rafa's purchases. The problem we have is that there are a few players in our side who are 'jack of all trades'.

Take Henderson and Coutinho, and stick them in the '2' midfield slots ahead of Can in a 4-3-3.They'd be so much better. There's a lack of balance, and it's something we need to correct. Can is still learning how to function in his current role, so in my view, we have Henderson, Can, Coutinho and Milner who aren't specialists (yet), or are jack of all trade players. That's the central midfield and wide areas.
