Yep, he has made a number of high profile errors that led to goals, but seems to be getting less attention for his mistakes.

I feel bad for my own reaction to his form but it is nothing but fact that if he makes the saves a keeper should do very comfortably at this level then we are 5 points better off over the last two weeks.

Marry that to the poor form he has shown in every game beside s Sunderland at home and you can understand the reaction.

Shot stopping is the bare minimum of a keeper at Premier league level and he has been impressively poor at it.

But yes, maybe we should give him a break.
It was the same with Mignolet last season except it wasnt his first season

                  Jens Lehmann offering his opinion

Lehmann, the ex-Arsenal and Germany 'keeper, is not surprised by his fellow countryman's initial struggles at Anfield, claiming the transition from playing for Mainz in the Bundesliga to the Premier League is 'massive'.

But he says the 23-year-old, who he rates as an excellent prospect, simply needs to be given time to prove his worth in England.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Lehmann said: "It will be a good challenge for him to prove the critics wrong.

"He is a fantastic prospect. Jurgen Klopp probably has bought him for the future, not for an immediate impact.

"I was ten years older when I came to England but I know the change of system to play in the Premier League from the Bundesliga is massive and, for a young guy who didn’t even make it to the top in the Bundesliga, it is really hard because you need to find yourself as a goalkeeper.

"Technically he is not yet perfect but who is at that age? It is about development and Jurgen Klopp knows what he is doing. Of course, he has to back him now because if he drops him or if he doesn’t back him it will have a major impact on Karius’ self confidence.

"At the end of the day, you see how strong players are. That bit of anger inside of him, he should perform a little bit better."
"I will make the boys feel your support"

I seem to remember De Gea making a few mistakes when you first arrived at Man U and I'm pretty sure other top keepers have had dodgy starts to their major club careers.
Karius is just adjusting....he must be nervous as ****...young, new league, new lifestyle, massive responsibilities. I've no idea of Mainz attendances, but I'm guessing it's nothing like Anfield and other premier league grounds...it all must be quite daunting.
In a few years we won't remember the last few weeks. He'll be just fine in a week or two. I like him.
Oh triffic......so while you're up the road jollying it up, it's touch your toes time for Rodney

Not having a go at you in particular, but I'm so bored of the deGea comparisons, they're ludicrous. It reminds me of when we signed Andy Carroll and loads of people kept saying he was going to be our Drogba. He wasn't ever and never was!

Had it on subscription - it came 2 weekly I think and seemed like an eternity waiting for the next edition to arrive. This was the late 70's and early 80's and considering how successful we were there never seemed to be a fat lot of LFC stuff in there.

It's no more ludicrous than you ruling it out entirely. It might happen it might not, nobody knows. The comparison is valid though, they were both **** when they first arrived. What happens down the road is anybodys guess.

I understand we all want him to be as good as de Gea eventually, but its not very likely is it? How many keepers have been as good as de Gea over the years? Not many!

                            Its hopeful grasping. Dreaming.

But you can't rule it out either however unlikely. I'm not saying that he'll defo be as good as De Gea, I'm saying De Gea was **** for a couple of years and look how he turned out so you never know, maybe folk should cut the lad a bit of slack, support him and see how it goes. The only thing that's ludicrous is categorically stating without any doubt that he's ****e and will never be good enough. And I've read that a lot in various places from various people lately.

And he doesn't have to be as good as him either, he just has to be one of the best in the league, not one of the best in the world. I think we'd all take the former.
