Exactly. I hope(d) we'd knick fourth... hardly the dream but that represents a jump of four places and about the same of our average placing over the last ten years.

I'd say anything hope of finish in the top six is positive.

I can't help but think 4th will be beyond us as a couple of sides with better resources now have better managers.

        Top 6 for me.

I see what your saying mate but, many class managers such as (the Leister boss, sorry can't think of his name at the mo) have brought in much less known names and turned them into stars so, why can't Klopp? a top four place is not impossible at all and given we also have a top class manager too makes us capable of anything.

What we all need to do is get 100% behind the Team & Klopp and see where it takes us bud. we must have faith and believe in what we are trying to achieve. we don't need to spend millions upon millions on any one player to improve the squad as Klopp as already shown so its time to sit back and chill

I think Mourinho could win the league with United in his first season. Also though, I wouldnt be surprised if he had a big bust up with Rooney or Zlatan and it all went to ****e for them....

Similarly with Conte. Chelsea have had better managers than him and they couldnt stay longer than a couple of seasons. Had they been a better run club, then Ancelotti could have built a dynasty there by now....

Guardiola will be under pressure. He was expected to win the CL with Bayern and 3 leagues in a row with them isn't exactly amazing. It won't be so easy with City and although he will have brilliant resources, he will be under pressure as well. I nearly hope they do well in the CL because I don't think they can do well in both that and the Premier League.

Spurs - Pochettino's stock is very high at the moment. But I dont see them improving on last season. Wanyama and Janssen were both good squad signings so they have added a bit of depth to their squad. But they will also find it hard to be competitive with the champions league to worry about as well..

LFC - i think that Klopp can construct a team that can beat the teams we should be beating. If you beat the bottom 10 teams home and away, and lose every other game, then you wouldn't be far off the CL places with 60 points. I think Klopp recognises that to be sucessful in the league, you need to be able to have a defense that can withstand a Sunderland or Palace or WBA and their agricultural football as well as being able to play ball when you have the ball as well.

It will be interesting season. I just hope to **** we aren't all giving out about Mignolet / Lovren / Moreno many times next season. Because if we are, then the club / manager will have nobody to blame but themselves.

I'm not sure that this season is any easier to predict that last was. Lots of teams have undergone important changes (loss/gain of players or change of manager) and both the direction and pace of that change is quite unclear.

For us I think the churn in players and the obvious change of focus in terms of the make up of midfield represents the biggest question mark. Klopp appears to have decided that we had the correct defensive personnel (with a possible exception of the keeper) and what was needed was a more physical midfield and more pace in attack. In pre-season this doesn't yet seemed to have clicked either in terms of goal output of defensive solidity (against decent teams).

If we get a good result against Arsenal and can build from that I think top 4 is very much a possibility. If we struggle early on I think given the number of contenders it will be very hard.

It will be interesting to see how much Matip, Grujic and Karius play at the start of the season (when he gets back from injury in Karius case). I wouldnt be surprised if these players mainly start on the bench and gain experience as subs.

If this is the case, then it could work out pretty well longer term. Mane and Wjinaldum will hopefully be able to hit the ground running....

Think both City and Utd are both undercooked considering season is 10 days away- Chelsea just look hard to beat, but again no type of play that jumps out, cant work out the spuds and Arsenal, well, still need a frontman

At the end of the season I thought we needed some reinforcements in goal, left back and midfield. At the start of the season Mignolet will still be in goal and Moreno will still be our left back.

Wijnaldum doesn't look like a midfielder for the 4231 although he's strong and neat and tidy, he's just too attack minded to play there.

Unfortunately, Lovren is looking a bit unsteady as well. So going into the first game of the season we still have Mignolet, Moreno and Lovren in the back 5. For me that's not a good sign but our attack looks the business.

Sometimes that is enough to carry deficiencies elsewhere in the team or at least cover for them long enough for a balance to be struck.

Here's hoping that it proves to be the case with us should our rearguard be found lacking.

So we'll beat the Arse 5-4

With not many midweek games we are going to be cracking skulls.

Can't argue with this. We should hopefully have enough goals in us to bulldozer the ****e and no 'top' team will want to play us. We're a pain in the arse to play against most of the time.
