He was out of line last year too, talking ****e to the press- saying the club wouldn’t offer him a contract, when obviously there was talks ongoing. Once is business, twice is bad business.
Given he wanted to say something, I think he got it all wrong and just made himself look like a bellend. If he came out criticizing the training sessions, or tactics people might question if his form is down to Slot’s tactics. But peddling the line that he doesn’t need to prove himself every week, based on what he’s done in past seasons is just embarrassing.
In reality, if he just said he’s not happy to be a squad player and his priority at this stage of his career is to be playing every week, and if it’s not gonna be Liverpool, it’ll be somewhere else… it would still be a dicky move to say it to the media, but I think most fans could at least empathize with the mindset.
Also I think talking about how much he’s done for the club is a bad look too. Has he done a lot for the club - absolutely, but the club has done a lot for him too. Ffs what he earns in one week, it takes me nearly 6 months to earn!!I don't tipComment

Interesting, but I suspect slightly skewed because presumably many of the games he hasn't started have been easier cup games or dead rubbers, he has also come off the bench in those type of games and scored so not sure all is as it looks...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.Comment

Its difficult not to start believing your own hype and starting acting out. What I will say is that I feel that he is struggling with the situation as much as anyone and has expressed himself in the wrong way. Salah is a good guy, but probably poorly advised.
there are enough examples of players on advice of their agents trying different ways to get a move. I think he fancies a nice life somewhere hot with a great long term contract and he has to find a way to manufacture that. this is what this is about. If he gets a contract worth 500K per week for 4 years in Saudi then he will jump at it. How does he take that opportunity having just signed a new contract here??...
In the Saudi League its easier , less running. He will probably score more easily and be a focal point. Plus a palace in the desert somewhere.
He knows that the strains of the premier league are taking a toll on his ageing body and that staying competitive is more difficult. The writing is on the wall.

Salah is finally going through that crucial phase of being world class to nostalgic plodder. As independent observers we see the effects but he's in the self denial zone. It's painful in there. He will come through it but after about 12 months in the Saudi league. I've been harsh on him but I want to back off a bit. Get him sold asap for his own mental journey.One tit for another.
