We played alright, and we've created enough chances in these two games to win the bloody competition. They've not been the most clear cut of chances and we haven't finished them well enough.

Positive: Lovren did pretty well.

We created so many chances, many just happened to fall on Salah's wrong foot lol. I can't blame him, he's progressive and he's been brilliant so far so no blame on him really apart from one situation where he could have perhaps put his foot in and been a bit braver, may have bundled it in.

Lovren played alright actually, I said to my brother who was also watching that the defence seemed to mess around with the ball less tonight, the basics were better but they also got the ball out of defence quicker I noticed, first time this season I've seen them do that.

Can played well again and looks vocal, should be Captain really.

I know mate, it's bloody annoying but we will get there. Just can't help but feel it's all too late with the League especially but I reckon we will qualify for the CL.

Give up? I had no expectations of us challenging for the league. We are not winning it. That's fine. I'm not disappointed or annoyed. It's just frustrating watching us make the same mistakes on and off the pitch.

Can't agree with that. He was terrible again tonight, and has been nowhere near his best yet this season.

Agree with your earlier summary of the game though. In isolation tonight was just one of those nights. It's just that it's come as part of a spell where it keeps on happening.

The trouble is, we brought on a top striker for the last half hour. One who, while he may have lost some of his pace, should still be a clinical finisher. And he missed two great chances himself.

Firmino, Salah, Sturridge - no-one would want rid of those three, yet they all missed fantastic chances tonight.

Too many players just weren't on their game tonight - thats fine in isolation but its worrying that a pattern is now developing where we just aren't able to capitalise when we are on top.

Hopefully its just confidence and we'll sort it out soon but it makes us a pretty frustrating outfit to watch at the moment.

edit - when I say frustrating, what I actually mean is pish.

Can was awful tonight, just as he was against Sevilla. Infant both him an Wijnaldum have only have 2 good games all season.

Regardless, we should have put the game to bed tonight, we had more than enough opportunities! Firmino's square pass being the easiest of the night for me, but he ****ed it up. Sturridge's volley was a much harder technique but even that was a game deciding moment.

Not really, Coutinho caused the free kick.

Can was utterly useless I don't think he did a single thing right during that match .. and he started the cluster**** chain reaction which eventually leads to the goal.

Problem with Can is he needs to be playing week in week out otherwise he drops off dramatically. But at the moment with a fully fit squad he is not starting week in week out, so I can see many more performances like this until he eventually sulks off to Juve
