Last year we looked tired and travelling to Europe. This time 100% effort for the league. We have to win it.
Our strongest team on paper and our strongest team based on fitness and preparation aren't the same thing right now. The lads who came back late from the WC are behind in their prep so some of the other guys have moved ahead of them in the order until they are ready.

I think that managing the squad now should pay dividends later in the season when these guys have that little bit extra to give.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think we need to put up a credible challenge for the title this year. Fourth is no longer good enough imo.
        Oh I don't know.

agree. With the spending we’ve made in backing Klopp this TW 4th is no longer ‘good enough’ for us. We should be fighting it out with City for the title.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Forth and playing amazing football would be fine and dandy for me. I ****ing love watching us play when we're really on it, and that's why I watch football. Anything else is a bonus.

The joy of watching us play nowadays is just one of the best feelings. For me forth is an absolute minimum requirement. I feel we should be at least top 2 with the squad we have

Be interesting what team he puts out. Studger on form has earned a start and it would do his confidence a world of good. I think he'll start with the usual three attackers though and also play Hendo and Wij in midfield. Going to see some great stuff this season, can't wait.

Fabinho a fresh injury doubt besides Matip, Klavan, Milner and Gomez. The last two should hopefully be ready for the bench at least.

I said earlier in the summer I don't see Klopp starting both Keita and Fabinho in midfield due to their lack of PL experience. But if Milner is out that may chamge things. GK and defence picks itself only question is who is fit to partner VVD. Also crazy as it sounds I wouldn't be surprised if Firmino is rested for a bit longer and Sturridge starts.

Alisson; Clyne, VVD, Gomez, Robertson; Milner, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Sturridge, Mane
Think you're giving too much thought to where you think players are at fitness wise.

Firmino is 99% likely to start IMO, and I think Trent will too if he has no set backs. I'd also be surprised if Henderson isn't on the bench after Klopp's comments post Torino.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think that with the world cup it is going to be important to get the players back to fitness and sharpness and not mismanaging them by bringing them back too early. Yes most players are back in training and have played a preseason game or two. But where they are in the terms of a preseason fitness plan is important as is the level of sharpness. I think if you rush them back for the first game of the season you possibly create problems for yourself down the line, in terms of picking up injuries or fitness dipping in the second half of the season. It's a squad game now and we need to be sensible in how we use the squad to get the best out of everyone for the whole season.
