We've overcome adversity in the group stages, beaten Bayern when few liked our chances, pummelled Porto back into their box and battered Barca like a cheap bit of cod.

Now we face our ultimate test, not just against a Spurs side making their first European Cup final appearance in their history, but against ourselves.

We've been here twice before as a group and twice the team has lost through collective doubt or self-error.

It's time for the team to show the self belief demonstrated through the season. To reflect the 97 point winning mentality of never giving up, never beating themselves, throughout the entire league campaign.

Let's win this trophy and add to the pantheon of Anfield legends the name — Jurgen Klopp

I can’t help but feel really confident about this game... and that worries me.

I think getting to the final is Spurs Final. They have achieved something they never thought they would. But, can they go that final step?

You’d argue they can’t match our desire. We have the burning disappointment of literally (thanks Karius) throwing the trophy away last year. The pain of that defeat will be a great motivator. I expect us to be soooo up for this. I expect us to go at them like we did Barca and blow them away.

I also think we have experience in the build up and occasion that they don’t. We know how to manage the gap between the last game and the final. Three weeks is filing ages. We must have learned what works and what doesn’t in that kind of gal last year. Then the occasion itself. We have the experience they don’t.

So everything points to a convincing win...

But....

This is Liverpool. We never ever do it the easy way.

We ****ibg HAVE to win this don’t we? We just have to. Ultimately because we are a better team than them.

We need all our stars to deliver. We need Salah making smart choices, With Mane and Bobby on fire. We need Virgil bossing the defence with big Joel. We need Robbo and Trent bombing forward. We need Allison building a wall. We need Henderson driving us on. We need Fabinho getting the tackles in. We need Gini in beast mode.

We need Milner coming off the bench to see us home.

We ****ing have to win this. WE HAVE TO. It’s Spurs FFS.

Failure is not an option.

I always worry about **** like the law of averages. We've played them twice this season, beaten them twice.

Before the play off semi final 2nd leg recently, Leeds had played Derby three times this season and led 7-1 on aggregate - before getting pumped at home and getting knocked out. This **** bothers me.

Poch is a very good coach and has adapted to us in both games, coming on strong at the end both times.

We're obviously better than them, all over the park. And as you say our experience of CL finals will, or should, stand us in good stead. They'll be a fish out of water. It's ****in Spurs ffs.

But as people keep saying, it's not Spurs that are scary, it's the prospect of losing to them that is terrifying.

Imo it's a 60-40 game. The team picks itself, injuries / Firmino fitness permitting. If I'm betting my life on it, I'd back us all day long, obviously. But it's never straightforward is it, and we've developed a habit of losing finals / not getting over the line, and that **** is hard to shake. I can hardly think about anything else ffs.

My rational mind think we’ve got it in the bag. The rest of me knows how much it hurts to lose.

I just look at how solid we’ve become and think how well we can approach a game like this. Compare what we are this year to what we were last in the final.

We are better. But yeah Poch is a good coach. I am sure Jurgen will be studying the footage of that second half.

I also think Spurs have the Harry Kane problem. He is going to do everything to play. He is always pretty wank against us (pens aside) and Id rather play then with a half fit Harry Kane.

Yeah, I feel sick. Losing to them will be ****ing awful in a way that will ruin summer.

I don't think Kane will start. It'll be 2 months or so since he last started a game, and so will be nowhere match fit. I also think this will be a problem for them / their camp. Kane has a huge ego and will be expecting to start, and if he's left out it'll be a tetchy camp. They look a better, more fluid side without him, despite him obviously being a brilliant goalscorer.
