Milner, Gini and Ox in the midfield. That's decent enough. Be crazy if we don't play either of the new centre backs. Davies has been playing every week for Preston and is match fit, if he sits on the bench for 4 weeks it's going to be even harder to make the step up.

Davies may have never played in the PL, but I would take his 251 senior games in the UK as making him as a far more seasoned player than Philips. Of those 251 games, 136 are in the Championship.

Just dug into his numbers a bit more, and thanks to cup games, Davies has played againt PL clubs 4 times so he has played againt PL teams almost as much as Philips has.

I just do not see them as being even close when it comes to first team experience.

If we are to use the playing a few games in the PL as the trump card over playing scores of first team games, then Kabak who has played in the Turkish league, the Bundesliga, the champions league and for his national team also falls behind Philips and his six pl games worth of experience of playing in the UK.

I am not trying to say Davies is automatially a quality player, but I am saying that his 251 first team games in the UK makes him a much more exerienced player than Philips and his 7 UK games (6 of them being in the PL and one in a cup game).

I also think that for his age, almost 24, that Philips has an almost unusual lack of first team experience be it for Liverpool or having a decent number of loan games to give him that first team experience.
I'm not saying one is better than the other, a handful of PL games but about 20 career games is limited experience, 250 games at below PL level is obviously more experienced but there will inevitably be questions about whether he is up to it at this level. Personally I suspect the level of the two is probably similar at the moment, Phillips having had time to get used to the idea of playing for us. Obviously I hope Davies will prove to be a better option long term but may take a while to settle as this is a big step up for him in particular at the moment given how quickly everything seems to have happened.

Given the midfielders that we have out it makes sense to play CBs at CB rather than sticking Henderson in there again.

Nat Phillips also played 19 games on loan at Stuttgart.

I can see a CB pairing of phillips and kabak, just so we can beef up our threadbare midfield and bring henderson in.

Ok now I'm worried about our CL run coming to an end. Unless Mane can get over his Covid sharpish and Kabak hits the ground running.

It's difficult to give much of a **** when every single game comes around we lose another player. Sick to death of it. Wake me up in pre-season.

That's a joke, by the way.

He played 22 games for Stuttgart, 19 in the Bundeliga and 3 cup games, That was why I said in one of the earlier posts that he had 7 games in the UK for us and 22 on loan.

I only started talking about the UK and PL experience when it was brought up specifically in reply to my post.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

2 to 3 more weeks for Jota is a bit of a nightmare.

the whole season has gone to rat****..... trying to stay positive and hope we can get past Leipzig........but wouldn't be surprised if we lose a few more players before then. Because we are so ****in stretched, it is putting more and more pressure on the other players to play every ****in minute.......and so putting them at more risk.

                            **** sake

I'm just hoping we have had all our bad luck with injuries for a few seasons now so should largely be clear for a while after this. Or at least that is what I am telling myself to get through this
