And if he was off balance from anything, it was from his knee/leg connecting with the back of Trent's head so that again brings us back to the first contact that saw him lose balance/start to fall being when he connected with Trent and not the other way around.

He runs into TAA so for me it's not a penalty, but for the people claiming that it was Trent's leg that deliberately tripped him up (as I say I can't see it) but surely the ref would 1) have had to look at the video more than he did to see the contact (I've watched it a **** load of times and still am not sure if there is any contact). 2) he would have had to have taken into account the initial contact with TAA's head/shoulder area. 3) if it was the deliberate trip with his leg then that's a red card for Trent, so again he would have been looking at the the monitor for longer as there would have been a check for a red card...
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

When was the last time a freekick was given for obstruction in the PL it almost never happens.

Sorry about the quality of the video but you can see the trip around the 10 second mark. It was subtle as he lifts his leg up again after. I only noticed it after watching it on a big screen. Didn't think it was a pen initially.

If you still don't think that it warrants a pen then fair enough.

We're too exposed anyway. That's the bottom line.

Fairly sure obstruction as an offence was removed from the rule book. Which is why 'shielding' is permitted.

Wait till they can't take away a penalty for us so they decide to turn it into an indirect free kick instead. There's a first time for everything this season.

If Trent stays on his feet and gets in between Calvert Lewin the ball then it's never going to be Pen. Like I said earlier, as soon as you go to ground and don't win the ball you are giving the ref a decision to make

How often did we see Virgil go sliding in with last minute tackles/blocks? He doesn't have to as he reads the game so well, that's one of the main reasons he is such a great defender.

But Van Dijk is also lightning fast and speed of movement aligned with great reading of the game is what means Virgil rarely has to slide in. Trent is quick but I've seen Virgil matching Adama Traore in a race. Joe is also very quick.

Wasn't it Calvert-Lewin that got a penalty by running into Lovren and falling over? There's no doubt in my mind that he bought the penalty on Saturday. What can we do though..when bear-hugging Mane or Salah is fair game according to officials. The year after we win the league the officiating feels somewhat biased. Strange

We had one this season (maybe vs Newcastle?) where the ball was there for a tap in by Mane and he stumbled over the keeper when trying to get to it. Seemed quite a comparable situation, and we didn't the call, obviously.

                    Edit: this one..

It was worse than Mane just stumbling. The Southampton keeper grabbed hold of Mane's leg as he was going for the ball.

It's Karl Darlow and Newcastle. And yes, he literally wraps his arm around Mane's leg and pulls him.

it is a bit of a joke to be honest.

The implementation of VAR has been a typical car crash. ****in bull**** implementation by the pack of tosspots that is the FA, Premier League, refs association or whatever. ****in joke.

They should mike these dick heads up. At least then it would show how ****in basic they are. And surely the likes of Sky sports et al could not help but call them out then.

I reckon we are about 10 points down because of ****ty decisions this season. We've been ****. Our defense has been decimated. Our injury list has been painful as ****. But we have been ****ed by the officials as well

We have been on the receiving end of so many of these subjective VAR calls - I wouldn’t mind if everyone was getting equally shafted but the next game you see the opposite decision taken from a similar situation. They really are just making it up as they go along. VAR has given them the ability to make this right but they’ve ballsed it up even more......another infuriating aspect of this season
