We're ****ing rubbish
It’s all just luck. Fredo told me last week. 4 loses at home in a row is just luck, apparently we’re playing excellently!

Well even when sides have the ball at the back we rarely press as a team like we used to, it's one person on their own which is pointlessOriginally posted by Fredo View PostHow do you counter press a team which does not keep the ball and defend deep? The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yep - there’s no press and little momentum, we’ve become slow and methodical; and it’s been easy for teams to defend against.

For all the **** about the defence in our last 10 PL games we have failed to score in 6 of them, which is quite a remarkable stat. We have lost 3 of those 1-0 and drawn 2 others 0-0, the 6th game being today. One goal in each of those 5 games and we have at least 7 points more. Get a goal today and we don't lose, with the way the game would have gone, get a 2nd against Leicester and we don't lose that either. It's clear that the problem is the lack of goals.Originally posted by DeanoUK View PostIt’s all just luck. Its all linked thought isn't it? When you are brittle at the back, the front players aren't going to try something extraordinary. We were a bit wobbly before the injuries but we would be top 4 easily with Matip/Fabinho at the back. Take the big CBs out of any side in the PL and the whole team would struggle, badly.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostFor all the **** about the defence in our last 10 PL games we have failed to score in 6 of them, which is quite a remarkable stat. the REVENGE DERBY PL Game 24: Liverpool v Everton
For all the ****e injuries at the back, and a midfield made of straw... we’ve created a **** ton of chances and haven’t put the white inflatable ball thing in the back of the net. Therein lies the problem... our chances created to goals ratio is in the gutter. If we can’t finish, we can create ****ing loads and still lose comfortably. Like today.

It is linked but the way that we are playing doesn't really seem to have changed significantly to offer extra protection to the weakened back line. I am rather frustrated with the midfield, they don't seem to have been doing much extra work tracking back and covering. When Henderson was playing in midfield he would be in the LB or RB positions covering for the full back, when the fullbacks go forward now there is no one covering those positions, the midfielders let their runners go and there are often 2 vs 2 at the back, even with all the attacking football we played in previous years that rarely happened.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostIts all linked thought isn't it? Despite the lack of the defensive help, we aren't showing enough going forward so what are the midfield guys doing, mostly seems to be sideways passes keeping possession but doing nothing with it IMO. I'm a big fan of Henderson and I believe that he is the one that keeps the drive in the midfield, also we have Fabinho out or playing in defence too which obviously affects things. But at the start of the season you would have said our starting midfield 3 would be three from Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Thiago, we still have two of those guys in there and they are the ones who are supposedly the more attacking players but we have failed to score in 6 of our last 10 PL games so WTF is going on? You can blame the forwards as well to some extent, lets be honest Bobby has been poor all season, and Mane hasn't been great either. But it's not like we are creating a **** load of chances and those guys are wasting them. Today we probably had one or two real chances and we haven't been having many more in other games. For me the big problem is the lack of goals. (I can accept the defence being a bit dodgy given we are down to something like our 5th and 7th choice CBs but regardless of how well you play in defence if you don't score goals you don't win games. For me the midfield 3 and Bobby really ****ing need to step it up. It looks like Henderson is out now too so Wijnaldum will likely be captain for a while he needs to step up and be a leader start dictating the pace of the game and drag the team forward, Thiago is an experienced player too (even if not in the PL) he should be able to help both need to show alot more than they have been doing IMO.
Edit: Sorry that wasn't meant to be a rant at you

Can’t argue with any of that and Thiago has been a massive, if slightly understandable, let down. That midfield is bloody awful and it’s funny how Milner was being ridiculed (slightly) in previous weeks but we desperately miss him imo.
One thing that’s probably worth mentioning is that we would miss a bucket load of chances even when we were in better form. We would create more I suppose, and there wans’t such pressure to score as we knew we were relatively solid at the back. But scuppering chances has always been part of the front 3 DNA.

To be fair even I gave up any form of emotion with ridiculous officiating. It's almost scripted. Match fixed? Not surprised the players are mentally fatigued by it too.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostThe lack of complaints about that pen is pretty damning.
