Or if we manage to come fourth, ten I want Everton to finish in the final Europa spot and then an English team that finishes outside the Europa spots in the league, like Arsenal, win that cup and Everton get bumped out.

4th only loses a CL place if teams from the PL win the CL and Europa league and neither of them finish in the top 4. As you are allowed up to 5 teams from the same league.

Ugh, it’s true though isn’t it? They’re basically saying it wouldn’t be a pen until Trent raises his foot and and catches him. Really stupid by Trent considering he was on his way down.

I haven't seen a replay that shows that happened.

From what I can see, he runs into Trent, then falls over and I do not see any real contact with Trent's leg at all.

He did lift his leg TBF....After he got kneed in the head and your man was already falling down.

As cast iron a non-penalty as can be.

Yeah he was already down after his knee smacked the back of Trent's head.

This is what your risk if you go to ground and don't win the ball though

Still boils down to it being him that connects with Trent and not Trent connecting with him.

That happens in the middle of the park and chances are play goes on with no foul given.

Watching the Sky replays, it’s not apparent and I didn’t think it was a pen yesterday. The MOTD video analysis makes it clear as day unfortunately. He was on his way down but Trent also made sure by tripping him up.

So the player was already on his way down before contact gets made? That makes him either clumsy or already diving.

Really do not see how it can be a clear cut foul if the player is already going down before any contact gets made by the defending player.

Put Salah is the same situation and it would be called diving.

For me if someone runs into your head and shoulders chances are your legs are going to move, there might be some contact with TAA's leg but to me it isn't clear that there is, and if there is contact for me it isn't intentional on TAA's part as there is nowhere his legs can go.

If the penalty is given because TAA raises his leg and deliberately brings him down surely that's red card as there is no intent to play the ball?

At worst it was obstruction. Indirect freekick.

Thing is that the raised leg did not bring him down though. He was already falling down from Trent's left side before he went over Trent's right leg.

And if he was off balance from anything, it was from his knee/leg connecting with the back of Trent's head so that again brings us back to the first contact that saw him lose balance/start to fall being when he connected with Trent and not the other way around.
