i was sat at a bar in illinois none the wiser. we had no idea. they announced a delay and i thought "sure, it's france. makes sense."

eventually someone on tv mentioned some sort of trouble getting the fans inside and there were a couple of whispers about some violence but we couldn't tell at all what was going on or that it was particularly bad.

I remember very little about the game and didn't drink a drop of alcohol as you know - there are two things that stick in my mind though;

1. Thiago raising his arms at us with a kind of "what the **** is wrong with you lot?" look on his face

2. The huge line of riot police that collected in front of us towards the end of the game - a completely unnecessary show of force, but given what went on before the game it was no real surprise. In a way i'm grateful this happened, as it made me leave the ground the second the whistle went.

The irony was that they were absolutely **** all help outside of the ground when faced with the locals

I was the same, had my friend's nephew with me and we got into a bit of trouble with a bunch of locals at the train station, the whole evening was a joke. The French authorities started with the baseline that all Liverpool fans are scum and took it from there.

Yeah I found a bar in Canada to watch it & we had no clue what was going on either. The result didn’t bother me as much as I thought it should but the shot show that followed it boiled my piss.

I've no doubt what happened impacted our performance massively, so I would hope if something similar happened again (it can't though, can it?), the club would take a stand and refuse to play until everyone at the club knew their friends and family were safe. At the very least it would highlight (or give the club a chance to communicate) who is actually responsible.

The CL Final match didn't happen for me - it was just a sideshow to the nightmare unfolding outside.

What a load of bollocks. That must've been our 100th European game in less than a decade so UEFA must've known that there isn't a hooligan element that follows the club.

The French police and security were more to blame, it's plainly obvious

Liverpool Football Club has released the following statement.

It’s hugely disappointing that a report of such significance, such importance to football supporters’ lives and future safety, should be leaked and published in this way. It’s been over eight months of work by the independent panel and it is only right and proper to publish the contents of the report to our supporters appropriately.

We will await to receive a copy of the report and digest it thoroughly before making any further comment.
