There was a mass exodus of the fan park at between 5.30pm-6pm, over 3 hours before kick off. Allowing for a 45 minute ish journey that's still arriving at the ground well over 2 hours before kick off. These people are brazen liars.

Think it was just after 6 when I was trying to get in and even then you could see problems building - the bottleneck they created under the bridge was absolute madness. That immediately led into the slow moving queue for the initial ticket checks that I think had four people on it that I saw. For potentially 40,000 fans. It was this checkpoint that they abandoned after a while which led to the locals storming in.
Throughout the whole thing there was no explanation, signs or communication, just had policemen in our face. A guy near me said to a policeman that it was dangerous and he either blanked him or shrugged, can't remember now. Just after that I text my family saying that it would be a delayed kick off - it was so obvious. This was all at least 2.5 hours before kick offSack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

I went to that game too, the atmosphere between the fans before the game was super relaxed. We drank with the Dutch fans. Euro 2000 was in Amsterdam and the atmosphere was meant to be very different. I took a tour of the Ajax Arena a few months before the tournament and it was a building site strewn with scaffold poles and planks even when the tournament was under way. Put the game in a **** hole and fans will act accordingly.Originally posted by Fosterbloke View PostCoupled with all ****ty narratives about scousers causing trouble, scousers nicking tickets, Tweets about fake tickets and blagging their way in, Madrid fans having zero issues etc.
This tribalism dehumanises fans when really people should be concerned that they could have been the ones in this position.
I remember the Euro 96 game against Holland was fantastic, zero issues (that I saw), no issues getting in, good bit of banter with Dutch fans before and after.
One thing for sure, there won't be any crowd trouble in Qatar
