I also think we will comfortably get top 4. The World Cup will do us a few favours allowing players to recover and then hopefully we sign reinforcements.

I worry about the level of investment required to refurbish our midfield. Feels like we need 3 at least? It’s the classic FSG hope for the best from the squad strategy and it’s not worked. The midfield today just did not have the required strength. Then we’ve seemingly got forwards dropping every game.

What this means though is probably chucking some cash about. I wonder if FSG have the appetite?

City will walk theLeague, because Arsenal will fall away.

If they win the CL also, hopefully Pep calls it a day.

I missed the game today (thank ****) - you are right about this season though. We all felt a bit light at CB that season and boy did it bite us. We all felt a bit light in midfield this season and boy is it biting us again, it’s compounded even more by seeing how well Tchouameni is doing at Madrid. It’s only October and Milner has started 5 PL games which is crazy. Our midfield today was 2 kids with less than 20 PL games between them (minutes), Jones who was playing his first match in ages in a position he has never played and a horribly out of form Fab. That is a shocking indictment of our transfer planning.

For me the biggest issues are the lack of effort and the seeming lack of a plan from Klopp. He looks like he can’t motivate them and we are still too easy to create big chances against.

City is an outlier and this is back to the norm - very worrying

I think this is down to what some may call being too loyal or others say not building from a position of strength. We haven't improved the squad enough after some good seasons. We've let the squad age and not been ruthless enough in getting rid of the injury prone players. The first team players feel comfortable in their positions there isn't enough competition and they aren't likely to be moved on so the level drops, I think you need a couple of new first team players a year to keep things fresh, since winning the CL in 2019 we're only swapped Wijnaldum with Thiago and Mane with Diaz, we have brought in Jota, Konate and Nunez but they haven't become regular starters.

Re top four we are 5 points behind Chelsea and four behind united. If we can get to the World Cup within that distance and do some business in January we could easily make up that gap. If the injury crisis eases up we could do better but the midfield needs addressing urgently. You can see that the midfield issues have completely destabilised the whole team to the point we have had to change the whole formation and attacking philosophy.

A little tongue in cheek. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to absolutely batter them in front of their fans (which we did do ). But sadly professionalism overcame the instinct to hammer them.
