took him a few games to settle in, but he looks class now.. imagine him after a pre season!!

His second goal was an unreal little dink, but I think I preferred the first one, with how he breezed past varane. Feel like there was no saving the first one too, but on another day, maybe de gea maybe would have smothered the second one. Both goals were amazing!!

His first goal was pure instinct, first touch, then bang curled inside. Carbon copy of so many of his PSV goals.

It’s obvious that his play in the middle is similar to Bobby, so his slow acceleration but decent enough sprint when he gets those long legs going.

I’d also like to see him play number 10 in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 against bus parkers.

Similar to the role Stevie G had behind Torres under Benitez. His timing of his runs into the box are pretty good so far.

Him being developed into a Bobby type forward is looking very interesting tbh. No one will be like Bobby, but Gakpo could make very effective nr. 9 in our system.
        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

He is a clever player and is going to offer a lot more once he knows his teammates runs. Like Firmino I think he can oil the machine.

I love the way he drives forward with the ball & makes runs into the danger areas, he's excellent technically too. Just a matter of him finding the position that fits. He, much like Nunez wasn't really in the game until they scored. He was unplayable after that. I did notice that with him for Holland too, very quiet and then suddenly scores a cracker.

Yeah I agree the first was an excellent finish , no doubt about it, but the touch was what surprised me from a near on impossible angle. And totally agree that he’s only likely to get better given time.

Epitomises the issues at the time with Brendon and the "transfer committee" - was a player Brendan didnt want and played him out of position - was clear to everybody he wasn't a rm

To be fair he did play a number of times as both a RM and a RAM for Hoffenheim as he would help play make from a wider position.

Of course they set up very differently to us, but not a totally alien position for Bobby in his younger days.

no 9 was alien as well. i can't be the only one who remembers that klopp had some choice words from the touchline for him in the earliest days that were audible on tv

I mainly recall Klopp looking on perplexed at the lack of movement from big **** Chris.
