**** me……a new breed of hindsight expert. I didn’t see it…….Originally posted by Charly View PostI didnt see it... but to sum up:
1. We need a replacement for Adrian
2. We need a reaplcement for Gomez
3. We need some DMs
4. Nunez is still great at missing sitters
Point of note Gomez doesn’t need replacing he just needs pumping out

I'm pretty concerned about it, to be honest. Our squad is quite a bit weaker than it was on the last day of last season and there is little sign of movement.Originally posted by danperkins View PostWe still have so much work to do in the market imo, late in the day too.
A transitional season or 2 awaits, in my opinion. Top 4 this year would be great achievement based on where we currently sit.Cult Member. Nazi puncher.

It's all a bit bizarre to be honest and yeah I see a bit of a transitional period for us. Top 4 is a must but will be hard fought this season with Chelsea back in the mix.

Are they though?
They have a brand new manager and a ton of new players that are still settling and also that have never played for that manager before either.
If we are in a transistional period then they have to be seen as being even more so in one.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Chelsea will be there and there abouts for the champs league places imo just like us. The league is so strong with all teams strengthening. Top 4 just got even harder.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostAre they though?

Nah Chelsea have an even bigger hill top climb than us.
New manager that has to try to get the squad used to his systems and only has the summer to do so.
A load of new players bought under the previous manager and they have lost way more experience from their squad than we have.
So far this summer they have sold or let go:
Kante
Kovacic
Mount
Mendy
Koulibaly
Havertz
Loftus Cheek
Azpilicueta
Pulisic
along with four or five other squaddie level players.
Plus they have four new players already in this summer to go with the nine new players they brought in in January.
That is a hell of a lot of new faces coming in close together plus a brand new manager (and back room staff) on top of a lot of players leaving in the one summer.
And if you think we are short on midfield numbers, have a look at their current squad right now. They have one senior midfielder left if you count Enzo Fernandez as that midfielder, two if you count Conor Gallagher as another. Every other CM they have are young players between 18 and 21.
Their oldest CM right now is Gallagher at 23 years of age
That's a massive rebuild. If they are expected to be in the hunt for top four starting from a lower base than us and with far more upheaval than us, then surely we must the favourites to finish higher than them this coming season.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

We'll see, they had horrendous injury problems in defence and a bit of a scattergun approach to transfers last season. They have a better manager and last seasons buys have that initial season under their belt. Fofana, James and Chilwell back is huge for them and I can't fathom Sterling, Gallagher, Murdyrk or Enzo being worst than last season. Kovacic is the real big loss for them and Mount is decent. We'll see how their forward signings work out, Nkunku looks a talent.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostNah Chelsea have an even bigger hill top climb than us.

They will no doubts finish higher up the table than last season imo. It was nice to have them out of the way last season but there is alot of competition this season for those spots.

You are just more pessimistic than I am with regards Liverpool I think and more optimistic than I am with regards to Chelsea.
I think they will finish below us again this season and that they will not finish in a CL spot.
Right now I think we will come 3rd next season, but if we bring in some more quality between now and the end of August I could see us coming second or maybe even bothering City to the final weekend of the season again until either they or us break.
Chelsea for me are a lot further off the pace than we are, and I think that come January or February we will be in a CL spot and they will be locked in a battle for a Europa league spot with Villa, Spurs and maybe Brentford. Brighton I have a feeling are going to fall away this season. Not to a relegation battle slot but more to a somewhere between 9th and 11th type finish.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
