It’s also 4 in a row for us now, if you go back to the last International break of last season.

Ach, it's just beyond a joke now. Complete and utter piss take.

I'd still be curious to know if this is the first time sky have shown a 12.30 match since BT took the early package.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

We already know we've played double the amount of 12.30 games than anyone else after Internationals, but regardless of if this is changed or not, I'd be curious to see other teams tallies if you removed fixtures against us. I'm certain we've played City and United in recent years, so are we actually inflating their figure
            s?
Found the answer for one team:

'The fact that City have only had 4 during this time and 3 of them have been Liverpool at home tells you everything you need to know'

Just one of those quirks I guess.

theyve switched slots a few times tbf.

I thought Sky might have paid for extra police presence but leaves them on a slippery slope. To have a prime game like this on a Saturday half 12 after international is a ****ing joke though, quality will be well down

Right, because I have nothing better to do with my Friday night...

                Using;

                and

with the latter URL being adapted to reflect the each season I calculate 23 international breaks up to and including the changed Manchester City fixture. One of those did not have a 12.30 kick off following it (24/11/2018). Arguably however, Fulham v Arsenal (on 12/09/2020) should also be included as this immediately followed a round of Nations League fixtures but was the first game of the season. For comparison against the Tweet I will however excluded it and have it as a note.

                Interesting (subjective) points:
Manchester United's only 12.30 fixtures were away from home
Both of Watford's 12.30 appearances were versus Liverpool in the same season
All of Manchester City's home fixtures were v Liverpool
Everton had 2 home fixtures and their only away was v Liverpool giving quite a short average travel distance.
15 unique teams have played at 12.30 and Liverpool have had 3 fixtures in London. Only 1 team has played more away in that time (Tottenham, 4) all of which were in London. Chelsea (Newcastle and Leicester) and Manchester United (Chelsea and Liverpool) have combined had as many aways as Spurs
Manchester City, Everton, Newcastle, Watford, West Ham, West Bromwich Albion, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Leicester, and Wolverhampton Wanderers combined have twice as many away 12.30 fixtures as Liverpool have had only in London but fewer than Liverpool have had away in all fixtures .

Wouldn't explain the imbalance of away games, or why United have so few

There are a number of factors that come into this, bigger clubs are more likely to be televised, as well as that it depends on other fixtures that week and which TV companies have first pick on games. Some games are always going to be televised, us vs City, us vs Man Utd, us vs Everton etc. Those are also most likely to be first pick TV games for the TV company if the fall after an international break then that is the 'luck' of the draw (or fixture computer). If the company with first pick on those weekends only has that slot then that is when the game will be on.

When they don't have first pick is when it gets interesting for me, late in the season when there are two teams in the title race say us and City, if the company with first pick chooses City, the team with 2nd pick will almost certainly pick us. So the place game in April 2018 and Watford game in April 22 makes sense from that point of view.

For the others it would be interesting to see what other games were on those weekends eg us vs Wolves or Watford in Sept/Oct aren't natural games to be televised
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                                Cheers CD.

Early KO is bad enough, but extra sickening that nearly all of them are key fixtures.
