Maybe they should try getting it up the pitch and into the net. Then see if that works as a plan for them.
End of the day they are pro players and little things like controlling a ball, passing said ball quickly, making runs, supporting teammates and so on should easy for them regardless of any tactics that might confuse them.
There was a clip put up yesterday of Wirtz battling to win a ball and then having to battle again to hang onto it, then when he comes away with the ball the majority of the senior players in the team are still behind him and not making themselves open or rushing to join him.
Think only two players made any attempt to create angles for Wirtz, one being Jones, but as no other player in our team moved forward at all the other team had at least four players to block the channels to those two players.
That kind of thing has been happening game after game after game. We complain here that it is all so slow and ponderous but a big part of that is players holding onto the ball for ages causing play to break down or when a player does try to grab a moment by the scruff of teh neck his teammates are showing no interest in going with him and time after time the replays are showing the same senior players being the ones holding back.
So players might point to the manager over tactics and a few other things, which might be valid, but the same players are doing their own fair share in making us a ponderous slow disjointed unit.
As said yesterday a simple and small thing as taking two touches less before passing to a teammate would speed our play up an awful lot and force the other team into being the one that has to reset more often instead of our own slow play constantly forcing ourselves to have to rest.
