We got 15 points from our first 5 games, those are doing some heavy lifting in our position and points total. Take those out and we have W9 D7 L10 of the 26 since then. 34 points from 26 games is bottom half of the table form

For me today was make or break for him as regards our top 5 hopes, a win would have put us right in amongst it. Defeat means I just don't see how it happens now.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If they are going to act, the international break is the time to do it.Originally posted by pondus View PostSlut out now. Why wait?
But I would be amazed if he doesn't get the rest of the seasonThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don't think a permanent manager comes in now. IMO it's a caretaker (probably Gerrard until the end of the season), in what I still think is the unlikely event that the club acts.Originally posted by Assassin View PostIt’s international break time. More than enough time to get the keystone cops out and get Xabi and the lads in. It feels like most games we are being out fought and out worked. Two basics you need to show every game and it doesn’t matter how good you are just play with some intensity and intent. It’s all too controlled and measured and it doesn’t work. They need some freedom to play and push harder.
And no low block today which is the usual complaint from Slot.

I think there is definitely an argument for that. The way he complains about football in the league and Europe. I don’t think he wants to deal with it and after winning the league last year fancies another challenge. Plus he doesn’t have his family with him.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostThis may sound dumb but I don't think he wants to be here next season, not saying he's trying to get sacked or anything but I could see a mutual agreement on a departure and him going back to the Dutch league.
It also feels like the players know it and it’s seeping through to the squad. They only seem to turn up on the big occasions at the moment.

His family didn’t move with him and he goes back regularly, we’ve been unlucky with injuries but the biggest factor is our fitness

Keeping players available is great but not at the cost of stamina and durability. Slot then compounds it by playing slooooow football to keep it low event. These players are still mostly Klopp era and you saw on Wednesday how to get the best from them. The problem is that they were so knackered that they couldn’t run today.
In the PL every game is a fight and you must match the work of the opponent to be in with a chance. We are simply not doing that.
This waiting until the summer is ****ing pathetic as well, he’s a dead man walking and that surely filters down into the squad. This season has been a monumental **** up, 10 games list with 7 to go. Even with Nat, Hendo, Fab and Rhys alternating at Cb we didn’t lose that many.

Being away from family is difficult, doing it in a foreign country must make it harder still, I think he has realised that his style doesn't suit the PL, if this season had gone well it may have been different, but now I just think, he can walk away having won the PL reputation in tact and take a less stressful job closer to home and he deals on that. Next season risks him damaging his reputation by getting sacked if things aren't dramatically better than this season. I think there is merit in a mutually agreed departure in the summer and I think that has been what we have been heading towards for a while.Originally posted by peterbread View PostI think there is definitely an argument for that. Problem is from the club's point of view we don't look like getting a CL spot which is a big problem...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I did 4 days a week away for nigh on15 years and then moved the family to a different continent and then came back without the £3-4m salary and private panes he can afford - You make it workOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostBeing away from family is difficult, doing it in a foreign country must make it harder still, I think he has realised that his style doesn't suit the PL, if this season had gone well it may have been different, but now I just think, he can walk away having won the PL reputation in tact and take a less stressful job closer to home and he deals on that.
