Kompany would be below Xabi for me, I'd put Xabi nr. 1 for me, then Iraola and Hoeness. I don't like Kompany at all, put maybe that's because he ripped Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson in a video that circulated

Slot would be under immense pressure after the first loss of a new season, he can't go on.

Can't remember which thread was in but Simon Hughes confirming Slot lives in Liverpool not Hale Barns

Meanwhile, the organisation’s head of football, Michael Edwards, originally from Hampshire, lives just outside Manchester and runs an office in nearby Altrincham. Edwards appointed Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, a Scot who usually travels north for a couple of working days a week from his home on the south coast of England.

Hughes hired the head coach, Arne Slot. Though he has a place in Liverpool, his family remains tethered to the Dutch town of Zwolle, not far from where he grew up.

I have tried to be fair with my judgement on Slot, but something irritated me this weekend. Liverpool despite winning are still all over the place and still have no coherent signs of a system of play, but what annoyed me, was the pre match and post match interview contradictions.

In the pre match interviews he clearly stated that because of the Tuesday to Sunday turnaround Liverpool would be fresh.

In the post match interview he mentioned 5 games in 15 days as a factor…

For me this is not cool.

In the post march interviiew he mentioned how unlucky he was with injuries about 20 times…

The moment a manager relies on excuses like this he is lost for me…

I agree with the sentiment, but a clear direction of play was never going to emerge in a Merseyside derby away from home.

There hasn't been anything clear all season tbh, no one knows what he's trying to do or what he stands for. I'm hoping this is all just posturing and he'll leave by mutual consent at the end of season, which would be my preferred solution.

I've said for a while that I'm not convinced he leaves in the summer, I think that the club will feel there are enough mitigating factors, the Jota situation for one, but also the lack of squad building. The squad was to be done over a couple of years, bringing in strikers and Wirtz last year and wide players this year, I think they gambled that Salah would have another good season that would keep us ticking over. And that's not on the manager. Should he have done better with the squad we have? Yes IMO, but if we make CL I suspect the owners would be prepared to overlook that.

He’s starting next season guys. Thats the way it is. Let’s see what happens in the window and how we start next season.

I think it would be a catastrophic decision, it seems he may have lost at least a part of the dressing room, and most of the fans, if we start poorly he'll be under massive pressure right away. He also doesn't seem to be able to get the most out of Wirtz, I'd be very tempted to get Xabi in if it's possible. We might not get another chance to do so.

He had his chance but made it clear he didn’t want to be considered. Poor decision, Madrid is certainly not the job you want to take at the start or your career.

Look, I’m not defending slot but from any footage I’ve seen of the dressing room and in training etc, it certainly doesn’t look like he’s lost the players. I’ve called for a slot to be sacked many times this season. But when I reflect on the season as a whole, I think if we manage to get top three or fourth place, given all the mitigating factors, I think him and the board probably deserve the chance to finish the job they started last summer and then let’s see how the new season starts.

If we sign a quality DM and some fast wingers, then I think we'll be on the right track.

True to some degree. But there was a passage of play in the second half where Wirtz had the ball in acres of space and every single one of our players were either standing still or walking. He had nobody to pass to, nobody was making a run and I think he ended up having to just play a stupid little one-two with Mo on the wing and our move was dead.

This has been a recurring theme since Slot has come in, players don't know where they're supposed to be, it's all improvised out on the pitch. He's an awful coach

I noticed that too - contrast that with our opening goal with Mo making a forward run. Why can't we do that more? We lack fitness to do it I reckon.

The goal was a freak bit of play. Their defender gave the ball back to us and gakpo actually passed the ball early not allowing them to get set.

We are far too slow generally, just lets teams get set in defence and then we get Slot whinging about low blocks because he cant work out how to beat it.

Compared to Klopp's team where we'd run forward with purpose, and if we lost it then we'd have Henderson, Fabinho and others to mop up. I'd love to return to that style of play.
