Not according to half of Redcafe. That 3-0 flattered us and we had nearly put first team out against their babies.

They also have a boom bust cycle discussion about us as usual, without seeing any irony at all.

TLDR; yeah Utd are so fecked. Just like every season, it's glorious.

No im on the Gold Coast. Took a drive down to Narrabri via Goondiwindi to photograph at the CSIRO telescopes. Photos are in the photography thread.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Impressed with the result & seeing Arnes system coming together. We took some chances bringing the ball out from the back but got through unscathed. Jaros is definitely a step up from Adrian & pulled off some good saves.

On one hand it is only pre season and that is where mistakes can be made, but on the other we gave up something like 17 or 18 goal chances against Man U and a similar number in each of the two previous games too.

Big caveat of course being the pre season side of it and the number of first teamers not available yet.

Right now we appear to look like a team that will reef a lot of teams with the way we can spring a counter attack, but the majority of PL teams tend to sit back against us.

Reckon we may be on the right side of a lot of games in which we score three goals or more, but might have to show patience whilst the giving up chances part of this new set up is being smoothed out as there may be a few shock games where we give up a lot of goals.

Does really look like Slot's set up is one that looks to play to our strengths and that then asks the other team to try and figure us out rather than us adapting to the other team. Like a fighter that gets in the ring and says "If you can match my level then fair dues, otherwise I am going through you eventually"

Yeah I’m hopeful that when our first choice defenders are up to speed they can manage the press better. Time will tell of course.

Not sure it is the press or rather truncated reactions within a press that is causing the giving up of so many chances.

Think it is more the adapting to the quick pass being the outlet from the back rather than the carrying out of the ball.

When the quick pass works it means we have the ball behind a line in the other team before their shape has reset, but when the quick pace fails to hit it's target, the other team get the ball back with their team already in an attacking phase in and around our final third.

That's how it looks to my eyes anyway at the moment. But as with the other post, any of that comes with the caveat of it being preseason and a new set up being put in place and adapted to.

Do find how the set up is starting to look to be fascinating though.

Off the ball the press is similar-ish to how Klopp's Dortmund used to press rather than how we used to press when we had peak Fabinho/Wijnaldum/Henderson in the middle, but once the ball is won in a deep position we look far more like Alonso's Leverkusen or dare I whisper it...a Guardiola team in how we look to release the ball forward from that ball winning position.

I'm taking the family to the Sevilla game on Sunday. First time in the stadium for the kids.

Previously I've parked in the city centre and caught a bus over to the stadium but can anyone recommend a decent car park I could use closer?

I don't fancy the faff with the kids.

I’ve always used just park. You rent someone’s drive way. It’s perfect for visiting Anfield. Don’t go too close though or you will get stuck in traffic.

I like the lad who looks after my car for a fiver. I can never find him after the game though, maybe it's his tea time

I wonder how many other cars he's offered to look after on match days, he's a good lad... might get a nice career as a valet in Las Vegas hotels.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!
