It's mega. But right now I want to turn the tv on and enjoy the performance. That hasn't happened in months. Surely we're due a good one soon, especially against Leicester who are ****ing ****e. No excuses, there's **** all pressure with the gap, we have long rests between matches. I want clear cut chances created, some nice one touch passing and maybe the odd long range shot that hits the target. Not much to want is it? Or am I being unreasonable again?Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Nice football would be great everyone wants to see that, but at the moment I just want to see us win the league again, we played some great stuff and finished 2nd. I've only seen us win the league once since I was a kid.
This has come from nowhere really nonr of us were expecting it at the start of the season,it isn't going to be polished flawless performances.Last edited by Exiled_red; 19-04-25, 10:30 PM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

No i get that. But there is zero swagger that you expect champions to be able to put out. I get the grind out results and 3 points is key. When you have teams like city chasing you it's vital. We have an 11 point cushion and it's been relatively plain sailing. Yet we only seem to grind out results and end up hanging on. It's weird. Like you I've witnessed 1 title since I was a kid and that was ruined by covid. This one seems quite anticlimactic. The games are boring. We are serving up absolute garbage performances of late. It's in the bag. I just want a couple of fluid attacking games. Even if it's just for periods. It's a brilliant achievement regardless but I'm just being honest. Maybe I just don't please easily. I'm sure when it's confirmed it'll be brilliant. I think I'm just older and I don't get the pleasure I used to. Too many years invested to not care but 15 years ago this would have been all I cared about.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostNice football would be great everyone wants to see that, but at the moment I just want to see us win the league again, we played some great stuff and finished 2nd. It would be great to put in some convincing performances and rack up some goals to bring the title in in style.
It may be that the players have put everything into establishing this lead and what we’re seeing now is all they have left in the tank. We haven’t rotated a great deal and a bunch of these players have already gone well beyond the most minutes they’ve ever played in a season previously.
Finishing it with a bit more swagger would be the cherry on top and I hope we do too, but just winning it is the be-all and end-all..

For us fans we need to suffer to feel emotional joy, and suffering has been absent this year due to failure of our rivals.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostNo i get that. The climatic nature is therefore missing but that's only short term anyway... once it's done we've won 20 titles. We are once again hands down the most successful club in English history and that's going to be special and something we appreciate for a very long time.
I agree with you on the way we're playing, and I agree with your caution on Slot and next year because of it.. numbers talk and the points we finish with this year are unlikely to win it again anytime soon. Unless city get what they deserve.
However... the way we're playing could easily be accounted for because of the lack of edge.. all we need to do is grind and win and that will impact performance. If we needed to win every game I am sure we would see more attacking and exciting play.
And if all else fails there is always Schadenfreude..me being the loathsome creature I am it's my number one source of pleasure. Cue PSG..

I think you've nailed it with that mate. Winning at canter is so alien. We always do things the hard way. Even when it's easy we make it hard. Except this time.Originally posted by BG1973 View PostFor us fans we need to suffer to feel emotional joy, and suffering has been absent this year due to failure of our rivals.

Agreed about the swagger, but I did think that first half against west ham and last 30 minutes vs Fulham were pretty epic. They just got lost with the other parts of those games!Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostNo i get that. But there is zero swagger that you expect champions to be able to put out. Hopefully we will enjoy it as we should when it’s done, but it would be good to add another couple of gears during the summer, to give us some more options than just Plan A

It's good that slot seems very realistic about it also. In press conferences he draws attention to how almost all of our games have been close results and we that have to work our asses off to achieve those results. He's not basking in the potential glory of a title, he knows that the margins are small and sounds as realistic as any of us.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

He’s been pitch perfect all season. He’s taken every challenge and the increased exposure in his stride, his mentality and approach to the myriad of challenges put in front of him has been very impressive.
With the team, it’s been patchy at times as the stakes have got higher but, again, the mentality of the team has been impressive. They get across the line against motivated opposition every time. Leicester have had a shocking season but is not be expecting them to roll over - they could be relegated by the time we kick off. This will not be an easy game. I too would love us to roll them over but that’s just not how it works. Any sort of win will do.Modifying post.

I really can't think of any league winner that has swaggered its way to the title with a strong lead. Personally, having been through 30 years without a title I'm just happy to hear our lot singing "We're going to win the league" and I don't really care how, but I'd much rather a boring final 7-8 games than a nerve wracking final 8 games!Really?

Nah, he is behind nunez and Jota today. Not even on the bench.Originally posted by DerKrampus View PostI feel so far removed from the anticipation and celebration but I'm so excited for next season.
