I have some concerns about his defensive positioning and his technique. It's too early to make any concrete judgements but the jury is definitely out on this one, as a right back, at least.

He's one of our new signings that I don't really get. I don't know if he's being hampered by the setup or if he just hasn't played great like Wirtz and maybe needs more time to settle.... maybe a bit of both. Early days but not done himself any favours with that display.

I think that it will be interesting to see how he is used. In reality, maybe the plan is for Bradley to be the first choice right back but Frimpong is there to challenge too and provide options.

I think the signings have been very interesting in terms of where they all fit together. It will be very interesting to see how we play when Mo is gone to Afcon. I think that we might go to a 442 you know with either Wirtz at the top of a diamond midfield or even Wirtz and Szoboslai on the left and right of a narrow midfield - with the width coming from both full backs.

I think this is the case. I've said for a while now that Bradley would be my first choice right back and Jeremy has shown nothing, so far, to change my mind.

I'm also interested to see how this pans out. Could it perhaps have been revealing that when Hugo was given his marching orders we went into a 4-4-1? I think we certainly do have the players to use a narrow diamond in a 4-4-2, the big "but" is that formation essentially leaved Salah on the bench.

Maybe that is what we are starting to build towards for when Salah goes. Possibly next summer?

A 442 or 4411 with a diamond in the centre or a 4231 with the wider players in the three part being tucked in more as wide forwards than being out wide like wingers.

Our incomings this summer make a lot of sense if that was the plan.

Width coming from the full backs (pace at FB being essential in those set ups too) and total flexibility amongst the front four in terms of being able to move into each other's positions.

Even the diamond, if we went with that, would be made up of four guys able to interchange rather than having out and out specialists in each role. The closest to specialists would be the guys on the top and bottom tips.

I have said for a while I think during the ACN we might try two up front (injuries permitting)
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Salah could also play up front in a two. Definitely

Lads, ye have been watching Slot for over a year now and what we can definitely say is that he is very rigid in both his team selections and the formation he plays. In game, when we have been chasing he has dropped Grav into the back 4 but otherwise he is a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 guy.

The idea that he will suddenly change to a 4-4-2 diamond seems mad to me because he hasn't done it and has shown nothing in his year here to suggest he will suddenly go gung-ho and completely change. I think we have the players to suit the formation for sure but we certainly haven't practiced it in match situations that I have seen

Back in your box Nev with your mad idea that Slot, a talented professional football manager/coach knows more about his own team, his own ideas for that team, than me and a bunch of other lads here on EST. .

How many games has Frimpong been fit for? Two or three? I have no concerns for any of our players tbh, new or old. We're changing our style and bedding new players in while not dropping points so far. Frimpong brings lots of positive energy on and off the pitch and I'm very optimistic about him.
                        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Literally waiting until Salah is unavailable before trying a formation that may suit us better

Others who have a better understanding of these things might now but do Bradley and Frimpong have the type of games that would match well if they both played?

Bradley plays narrow and makes those strong runs through midfield and into the box and links up well with little give and goes. Frimpong looks like he prefers to stay wide when attacking. Could that be the future plan for after Salah or even as the season goes on.

Would it be a better balance down the right and give us more pace and power to attack. It feels like they could combine well together.

While he’s not settle the world on fire I thought Frimpong showed a little bit more last night playing in attack. He had the FB beaten for pace put couldn’t get the delivery right but showed some potential.

One big difference is Frimpong is right footed. We’ve had most of our attacking success over the years with a left footer on the right and a right footer on the left so Frimpong is not going to be as much of a goal threat.

True I just looked at his stats and he has scored 34 goals in his career. I honestly didn’t even think about his scoring record
