Not sure where you get very poor from at all.
Its the general consensus by the fair-weather "fans" on X.

He hasn't been bad at all.

Salahs been far, far worse - but gets a free pass because converting a 90th minute pen papers over the cracks

Yeah I think a lot of fans & the media have put unfair expectations on him so far. The best is yet to come once he finds his feet in a new country etc etc etc.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

It seemed like a real marquee signing, a top tier playmaker, goal scorer, renaissance man, at an incredible price, so it followed that we would effectively shape the team around him. There was lots of speculation, and some excitement, about how Slot would do that, but it he hasn't really done that as of yet. I think people are more confused than concerned/disappointed.

We've also had 4 very tough games of football for him to try get used to a new league. Throw a stupid early international break in there too. And he'll have another crazy game next weekend. The positive is he seems to be getting better and more acclimatised with the speed of things each game.

You can see others just aren't quite on the same page as he is. He tries to play quick and others then turn back and play it safe to VVD/Konate. The whole team looks disjointed right now. Which is to be expected with the amount of change we have had.

He's so far doing a similar job to what Szoboszlai did in that position last year. Relentless pressing and high energy, loads of sprints, but not creating enough.

Obviously our expectations for him are bigger than that. Long season ahead and he will get there. Agree with Harv that the whole teams looks disjointed, we're still feeling it out. Salah has mentioned he doesn't yet know Ekitike and Wirtz's games yet.

The fact we have won all 4 while going through all this change is hugely encouraging though.

I think Szoboszlai came in for some criticism from some quarters for that too, Wirtz with the price tag and his reputation will face more scrutiny if he 'only' does the same. People are obviously expecting more from Wirtz, we need to remember that he is still young and is adapting to a new league and that will take time. Maybe minutes in Europe will help, but personally I think it is still about him settling and him and the manager finding the right definition for his role. I have felt at times Ekitike has been dropping back and trying to play in his space somewhat at times too, which I don't think helps
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It is the price tag but imo it's also the tempo and physicality of the league which he is struggling with. But yeah regards to the price tag, when anyone pays that much money they expect them to hit the ground running & their quality to shine through. Wirtz hasn't yet but we've won 4 from 4 so the spotlight isn't on him which is good and gives him time to breath. Something isn't quite right with the side yet, been alot of changes.. hopefully we can address that and push on.

The quality is there, as is the effort. He does seem to have shots blocked quite a lot so he needs to adjust to having less time and space for shooting. Other than that, when our front four get on each other’s wavelength we’ll see the best of Florian.
                      Never knowingly optimistic

He diesnt have dom's physique though. He isnt going to press and force errors as effectively. He needs to play his own game, but has yet to find rhythm or space to play in.

Its early days, but Im not sure its going to be an easy transition.he needs to bulk up really, but I just dont think he is suddenly going to find space against teams, as they are going to load the centre to counter him. The only effective counter is then width

Thought he looked a lot more comfortable playing off the left.

Imo he has really struggled to get to grips to the tempo and physicality playing at LFC and in prem. Alhough he finds good spaces and puts a shift in... on the ball he is taking that second too long and that pressure is causing him to either lose possession or misplace passes. He desperately needs an attacking return for his confidence before the rot sets in. I wouldn't be surprised if he's benched vs Everton which will be one of the most physical games we'll play this season. Looks like he's going to take awhile to settle.

I thought he should move forward or wider for a while, he doesnt have the physique to get out of tight spaces, and we keep seeing teams pack the centre.

Think we should maybe start Dom against Everton.

HE did get involved in a few good passages of play though. The talent is there, he just needs to bulk up.

He is the same height as Mo and Macca, but looks half the size.

No Liverpool player had more touches in the opp. box (7), created more chances (5) or created more big chances (2) than Florian Wirtz against Atletico Madrid.
