Most people do though these days it seems. £20m goes on flowers alone.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Some one at Dubai Holdings has confirmed that they are in further talks to buy LFC. They said it was from Reuters but can not see it on their website.

                  Just posted in the Guardian

Dubai in talks on possible Liverpool FC investment

DUBAI, Dec 4 (Reuters) - State-owned Dubai International Capital is in exclusive talks about a possible investment in Liverpool Football Club, a DIC official, who did not want to be named, told Reuters on Monday.

"Dubai International Capital confirms it has entered into a period of exclusive negotiations with Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Plc about a possible investment in the club," the official said.

"Dubai International Capital will be commencing due diligence in the coming days." DIC Chief Executive Sameer al-Ansari, a Liverpool fan, told Reuters DIC would issue a statement about Liverpool Football Club later on Monday.

I doubt it would come this far if something as simple as that could **** anything up.

Exactly. Plus they are business folk and know what they're doing.

He actually built a 20,000 capacity stadium just for the wedding

Mittal's event almost rivals what is considered to be the most extravagant wedding of modern time. The 1981 wedding of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who recently became the ruler of Dubai, to Princess Salama, earned that honor with its $44.5 million ($100 million in today's dollars) price tag. His family built a stadium big enough to hold 20,000 people for the celebration, which lasted an astounding seven days--hopefully long enough for the couple to greet all the guests. A quarter of a century later, it is still listed as the most expensive wedding in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Anyone fancy tapping up that fat tramp from the bridge now the shoe is on the other foot?

I thought that Uefa said they were OK with the Abramovich situation. So it won't be a problem.
