His tackling is quite poor though. Hes good defensivly imo but would lose the ball more often than not.

I'd say they'd probably end up being about as bad as eachother in that role frankly. Dirk works hard, covering more ground than Adam I'm sure, but his tackling is as poor as you'd expect from an attacking player, plus he's never played a central midfield role in his life so he has not tactical nouse or anything for the position. Adam isn't much cop in the tackle either, but I'm quite sure he has a better idea of what is actually required in the DM role, even if he doesn't have great ability to provide it.

We'd be better asking Agger or someone like that to play there imo if really necessary.

He's a decent player and all but if we think that Lucas is seperating us from the top 4 and mediocrity then we're in a poorer state than I thought.

you didn't, just implying that his absence is a really big deal. I don't think it should make a huge difference to a club in our position.

I think his position does make a difference actually, and a rather large one.

He's the player who shields the back four and he does a cracking job of breaking up play and releasing the ball to start moves. At the moment it's taking two players (usually Spearing & Adam) to do the work of Lucas and even together they're not up to his level. This then also means that we're lighter going forward because these two are running around.

I think the injury to Lucas this season has thrown a real ****ing spanner in the works.
