That's one of the most stupid arguments I've ever read. At least he was there? That's the best phrase to describe Lucas actually, he's there.Originally posted by Assassin View PostFirst bold comment; Bull****
Second bold comment; More Bull****
Lucas has given a way a few free kicks in dangerous positions, but at least he was there and available to male a challenge.
Scholes gives them away at the halfway line, Lucas does it at the edge of the box.Lucas normally breaks up play in the oppositions half by giving away free kicks, he is very good at this. He stops the flow of the game for the opposition. Scholes does this every game and is lauded for it!
Lucas doesn't "own" anything and doesn't dominate anyone other than Newcastle and Eastern European minnows.Lucas owned a very physical Bolton midfield last weekend
As I said, good ball chaser.Lucas was on the field a couple of minutes against Napoli and he mugged the Napoli player to set up Gerrard's 3rd goal
Doesn't mean a damn thing, if he had better competition, he wouldn't be playing. Hodgson brought in Poulsen to start over him but Poulsen is so ****, he shouldn't play a minute.Lucas is virtually a fixture in the team under two different managers.
Meireles and Lucas is our "best" central pair on paper but they're going to get dominated by good sides because neither of them is a physical presence.Lucas is a very good young player who is growing in stature every game
Lucas, Gerrard and Meireles are beginning to gel really well as a trio in the heart of midfield, they will be more than a match for anyone as the season progresses
He's excellent at keeping possession because there is barely any penetration in his passing.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostUtter crap, he commits relatively few fouls and is a good tackler and is excellent at helping the team keep possession.
See above.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostGo wilful ignorance and plain ignorance! How about the accuracy? That is also high.
Lucas' fouling stats are also good. He doesn't give away that many, your prejudice is distorting your view.
Lucas also has not only a high volume of tackling, he also has high pass volume and accuracy so again, saying he didn't have the ball, is just plain ignorant.
As long as we have players like Lucas being regulars for us, we're never going to be close to where we we want to be. Never ever. Our team is so crap right now that Lucas is looking like a shining light but it's an illusion. Our possession percentages are abysmal, and there are long periods where we don't have the ball even against **** sides. Lucas looks good when he doesn't have the ball, I've always said that and it won't change. When Rafa was here, he looked good in games against top sides when we were compact and didn't dominate possession. Under Hodgson it happens almost every game, that is the secret of Lucas' "improvement".
But I guess if we're so desperate for positives this season, we can pinpoint Lucas' artificial rise to stardom. When we're good again, he won't be in starting line up, take that one to the bank.

How the **** can Lucas give away many free kicks at the end of the box when he is giving away around one free kick a game?
That is what the statistic say and this time you can take that as fact.
The Lucas gives away many free kicks is bull**** that you can prove is bull****. Everyone that comes up with that argument is indeed an idiot.Stop the cyberhate

Actually, you have a preconceived view and are ignoring evidence that doesn't fit that view. You clearly have some idea's about Lucas that are easily countered by evidence.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostBut I guess if we're so desperate for positives this season, we can pinpoint Lucas' artificial rise to stardom. Lucas had to do many tackles last season because our Captain was to lazy to help out IMO.
The hole behind Gerrard and our two defensive midfielder wasn't that easy to cover. That meant that Lucas and Mascherano had to do many tackles that they hadn't needed to do if our Captain had tracked back more and by that way made the team more compact.Stop the cyberhate

Watch Lucas' passing chalkboard and tell me my description of Lucas isn't accurate. Look at the Bolton game, one successful pass forward in the opposition's last 30 yards or so, all game. Similarly against Blackburn, where his "penetrative passing" is to the full back.Originally posted by RedReet View Post
Watching games and checking stats is pointless. Just make something up and repeat it enough times and it will soon stick.
Look at West Brom at home, why are the forward arrows red and the sideways ones are blue?
And btw, he's not averaging "one free kick" a game.

He is a DM, where do you expect his passing to be?Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostWatch Lucas' passing chalkboard and tell me my description of Lucas isn't accurate. He still made the goal against Bolton from there.

Look at his tackling record all season. LMAO@Lucas being a good tackler, I guess the evidence doesn't back that upOriginally posted by Fernandinho View PostHis tackling record vs bolton was suprising low. What has it been like for the rest of the season, there could be a relation between positive play and worse defensive performance.

Yes it does. Don't talk crap. He has high volume and high success, although Arn was off, Lucas averaged 2 fouls a game last season. That is not high.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostLook at his tackling record all season. LMAO@Lucas being a good tackler, I guess the evidence doesn't back that up

He's averaging 2 fouls a game with about 4-5 successful tackles a game at a 50% success rate this season (guardian). That is ABYSMAL.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostYes it does.
