A bit similar to the Milan Jovanovic debate in the summer where everyone had a go at me for deeming him to be ****. Oops.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostOuch. Doe and Perkins v everyone. Oh dear.

Poulsen saved Lucas' Liverpool career.Originally posted by RedReet View PostSo then God delivers this man to Liverpool…

No, they're just talking **** because they think Lucas is going to be an excellent central midfielder for us. My opinion yes, and like everything else, time will decide.Originally posted by rudedog View Postpeople aren't just looking at stats though - they are using stats to back up what they are seeing - there is quite a difference.

And he hadn't played a single game in the Red shirt so you'll forgive people for giving the lad a chance. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I actually looked at how many free kicks Lucas gave away in the defensive third last season.
Game by game.
1. 0 11. 0 21. 0 31. 1
2. 1 12. 0 22. 0 32. 0
3. 1 13. 0 23. 0 33. 0
4. 2 14. 0 24. 0 34. 1
5. 0 15. 0 25. 0 35. 1
6. 0 16. 0 26. 1
7. 0 17. 0 27. 0
8. 0 18. 0 28. 1
9. 0 19. 0 29. 1
10. 1 20. 0 30. 0
So he gave away a total of 11 free kicks in our defensive third the whole season. 11 in 35 games.
Strangely enough Rafa almost always took him off in either the 78th, 66th or 61st minute.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

No, not really, I'm quite consistent in my opinions. One day they're extremely unpopular, a year later everyone's singing the same tune. Today, Lucas is the flavour of the month, nothing more nothing less.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostThrow enough darts...
If people think I'm talking ****, they are free to do so, but my opinion on Lucas is based by observing his entire Liverpool career closely, I've been very patient and supportive of him when he started, you can look it up if you want.
It wasn't that, people were certain he was going to be a first team regular for us, banging in the goals too. Like **** he was, obviously I was a clueless idiot for thinking otherwise but nevermind, not bothered. And he hadn't played a single game in the Red shirt so you'll forgive people for giving the lad a chance.

The defensive third.Originally posted by Fernandinho View PostHow did you define the "defensive third" or was there a stat which simply said that?
The part of the pitch that is closest to our goal.
The defensive third. The middle third. The attacking third.
That is the three parts of the pitch you normally use in statistics.Stop the cyberhate

I hadn't realised. I ment how was the data compiled or did you simply look at guardian chalkboard and say "hmm, that looks close to the defensive third..."
Also, seeing as Lucas is a midfielder he spends most of his time in the "middle third" as you geniuses put it... To get a true bearing maybe you should compare it to a defender who played a similar amount of games as Lucas, spending more time in what you call the "defensive third".
If Lucas was to have as many fouls or more as somebody who spends far more time defending in that area that you can assume he gives more away, or vice versa.96 Never Forgotten

You've thrown ****loads of darts on here, and you're harking back to one recent one as a means of triumphalism. Pretty arrogant to dismiss everyone's views on Lucas as some sort of flavour of the month fad. Amazing I know, but perhaps everyone else is basing their observation on his entire Liverpool career too. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Evidently not as amongst other things, the free kick statement proved.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostNo, not really, I'm quite consistent in my opinions. He's flavour of the month because he was easily the most criticized Liverpool player in the last couple of seasons, maybe along with Babel, but he hasn't played as much.Pretty arrogant to dismiss everyone's views on Lucas as some sort of flavour of the month fad. A month in the line up after watching Poulsen and everyone's on the Lucas bandwagon. Sorry for not jumping too.
