I'm not sure that is true of developing players. Obviously they are not as good as Lucas but most people would agree that Lucas progressed by playing. So you are always in a difficult position developing players by playing them or picking your best players. Diarra is a worse player (by a distance IMO) than Lucas, so wouldn't be playing either."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Aye. Not much fun. The reconstruction involves taking hamstring or patella tendon and stapling/screwing it to the bottom of the femur and top of the tibia to replace the ligament. Rehab is a bit of a grind. I really feel for Lucas if he's done his ACL.Originally posted by PC Plod View PostSounds horrible Banditos.

I was 19 when I did my knee the first time and 5 minutes after doing it I was jogging up and down the touchline thinking I was right to come back on. You can still run around without an ACL, but the knee joint will be really unstable and you'll start getting cartilage damage quickly.
Ok, cheers for that - I didn't realize you could even jog after an injury like that. Anyway let's wait for the official word...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

The thing with the ACL is if you rupture it I guess the best way to describe it is it's wobbly or unstable.
If it is that then he'll have the best surgeon and recovery/rehab so has every chance of making a full recovery.
As Banditos has vividly explained the rehab can be torturous but Lucas will be in the best handsThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

He was holding the back of his leg though, wasn't he? Surely that's PCL.
FFS, we're all doctors suddenly.
Sorry for adding to the speculation based on nothing but guesswork from what are probably spurious assumptions.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I've never seen that film. Dan Ackroyd looks very young..

I'm sure Spearing will be our first choice DM for December, if he impresses then we're set until Lucas is back but if not then surely we'll bring in another DM in January.Originally posted by dww View PostSurely we should give the players here the chance to prove themselves in the month before the transfer window opens? I doubt that without evidence Dalglish and Commoli would bank on them.
I said when we sold Meireles that we were at least one midfield option short in the squad. However, I'm not sure how easy it will be to get the right option in in January, or whether a replacement for Lucas is what is needed long term.
Not a massive fan of Diarra - he doesn't seem to have the positional discipline needed to be a really first rate DM and he's not massively creative. On the other hand his mobility might be an asset alongside Adam.
Everytime I've watched Lass play for RM I've been impressed tbh but if you have doubts then fair enough. Defensively he's as good as Lucas, his passing is very decent and I think he's quicker than Lucas. Remember that even if he does have flaws then Dalglish and Clarke are the kind of coaches that can iron those out and bring out the best in any player.

Yes, this has been suggested before and it was lunacy then too.
