Surely it's the club's decision to loan Lucas out and the manager has no say in the matter?

God that's as hard to read as an Elvoz post, but I couldn't be arsed changing it.

It seems pretty simple IMO. Allen is able (in Brendan's eyes) to play any of the 3 midfield positions in our formation therefore he's worth keeping, whereas Lucas can only play the holding role and is limited (in Brendan's eyes) in how he plays it.

I disagree and will be sorry to see Lucas go, but it's up to Rodgers to do things his way and I don't see it as any more than a footballing decision that he's paid to make.

What if we've had no offers for Allen? It's difficult to move someone on if there's no interest in the player.

Personally I would also keep Lucas over Allen, but it's not an either / or situation and perhaps Allen is happy to accept a squad role and Lucas isn't.

It's a shame if Lucas goes but if Rodgers doesn't see him as part of his plans then that's it I guess.
Allen was offered a new long term contract just last season I think, can't see him being sold in the near future. IMO, there is place for both of them if Brendan uses rotation, but the way we are starting i have a major concern that he doesn't know how to manage a big squad and rotate it.

well mate, good couple of points... first rebuttal: have you considered the stance from the club: "LFC are open to offers in regard to Lucas..."

As opposed to "LFC are open to offers in regard to Allen?"

I know which one has been touted officially/unofficially more often than the other (hardly any in regard to the later-er - ie. Allen), in light of last season to the present (heck even running for a few years now me thinks).

second rebuttal: Allen happy to be a squad player as opposed to Lucas? I don't believe that, Lucas has been here far long enough and would have made noise about this long before, no i don't think this is the factor (consider the fact that he hasn't even made the bench or even given a sniff or minutes this season)...

Nail on the head I'd say. It's hard to imagine someone putting a bid in for Allen innit! They'd want to see him play surely

Bob, sometimes you are too rational for your own good...put a sock in it...

We should be doing a lot better than a loan. If we can't, he should stay.

(he should stay anyway, but that seems to be a moot point)
