Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is interested in reuniting with 30-year-old defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva, who is believed to be available for about £4m from Liverpool. (Northern Echo)
I know he's 30 and probably on decentish wages but £4m? That's roughly an Andre Wisdom!
It is the Northern Echo though.

He's been a great asset to the club. Seems to have really understood the ethos of the place.
I'll miss him.

depends on who we bring in. I agree an old head is a good idea, but I dont really trust Lucas not to make the occasional clanger... If we get a good leftback, Millie could do a much better job there imho.
But yeah, a model professional... Get him to set up that South American football academy, and have him as somw sort of scout/am.basdador

I predict another last minute u-turn. He'll be more than useful in the CL.

He'll be missed. Has been a great servant to the club and obviously loved Liverpool

Good luck to him, hope he gets the move he wants. I like the guy but I think for the sake of his career he needs to move on.
Are there any plans for a testimonial for him?

It's a shame but 10 years of service means he gets to call the shots and deservedly so

Me neither, to be honest after last summer I'm just going to enjoy it rather than stress over it. Nobody had a clue when we signed Wijnaldum that he'd play so deep or that we'd change our system, Klopp could well do something like that again.Originally posted by poorscousertommy View PostI don't see us dropping Lallana from midfield.
Remember seeing the midfield line up first game of the season? It looked utter madness.

That would leave Henderson, Wijnaldum and Lallana as the back-ups? That's quite a strong central midfield.

That's how I'd see it, he's a box to box player rather than a sitting midfielder. Having said that, so is Can and Henderson but Klopp still likes to use them in that deeper role.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostKeita wouldn't typically be the deepest midfielder, Can the deepest and Keita in the Gini role with Phil as the 8
