I'd like him to stay but I think the decision is down to Lucas, presumably he wants more game time than he is getting here, he could go elsewhere and get that if he wants to, he still has a fair few years left in him particularly in a league that isn't as frantic as the PL. But he could clearly still do a job for us if he is happy spending alot of time on the bench/out of the side. It would be a fairly selfless decision if he were to stay as you would say from a career perspective it would be best for him to go somewhere he gets games.

heart over head decision that though - if he was prepared to take a reduced contract incentivised on appearances I'd keep him. He makes circa £90k p/w now and we won't give Emre what he wants.....I'd prefer to get Can to have Lucas's wages.

I think he is a great servant but there can be no room for sentimentality in football - one of Fergies great strengths was getting rid when the player was past it.

have to agree with this, he is been so close to the exit door and always manages to prove the doubters wrong. Mr Depenedable ( apart from at Centre back with pacy strikers )

We need LOTS of bodies next season, ones that are happy on the bench but ready to die for the shirt when called. We can't fill all the required squad positions in one transfer window so keeping Lucas is imperative. I'd prefer players that are technically better but that can happen in the following windows.

If we get CL he should stay Imo. Known quantity that will still get games and he appears really popular in the dressing room. Still has a lot of value to the squad
