    Stats for 2011-12

    Maxi
    3 starts and 1 sub appearance - 1 goal and 1 assist

    Downing
    10 starts and 1 sub appearance - 0 goals and 0 assists
stats are only a part of it. they do not tell the whole story. what if downing breaks from his own half beats 4 men (he hasn't yet I know) and then lays it off to carroll who in turns set up suarez. we score and everyone is happy but poor old downing that has created the havoc gets no recognition. Would he really of added nothing? Bale is another that people slate for only scoring 3 goals and having 3 assists, but if the team wins and he is running defenders ragged he's definately contributing.

if we're winning games, then all the players are playing an important role. we've become stat obsessed since football manager and the likes of sky. winning is the only stat that really matters.

Understand were you're coming from but as I said in an earlier post apart from watching a game which is completely subjective the only way we can judge a players form is through stats.

The "If Maxi was British and cost 20 million he'd be starting every game." thing is ridiculous, of course if Kenny spent 20m on him he'd get more games as he'd rate him enough to spend 20m on him!! As it is he inherited Maxi.

And the other bit is laughable, you might want to check some of our team sheets this season and see he has dropped Henderson and 35m Andy Carroll.

I'd like to see more of Maxi too but theres no need to write ****house things about the manager just because he disagrees with your opinion.
This line of thinking seems to be more common since Rafa said it on 'The Anfield Wrap'

        Just saying like.....

Edit: Chris, not picking on you.

While I think they are the most subjective way of seeing performance. They dont take into account the strength of opponent.

which makes a mockery of judging players then really and why the management has to be trusted a little in their decision making.

He also uprooted his family, moving them to a new country/climate than they are used to. He had to endure Hodgson while here, the manager who signed him was sacked after a few months and after playing out of his skin essentially helping Kenny get the job full-time, he finds himself almost frozen out, unable to get a place on the bench at times.

I do think he a bit of a case for feeling a bit aggrieved, not that he’s ever showed it once.

              Maxi

Edit: I bet Kenny hasn’t even referred to him the ‘wee man’ either, a further kick in the balls.
I'd uproot my teeth, move the family to Antarctica and endure Hodgson's cock up my arse for ÂŁ5m a year.

Nothing against Maxi, I was dead chuffed when he signed and am happy when he gets a chance but there's not a cat's chance in hell that I'd ever agree that he's hard done by.

I love how the notion that a player has someone's "100% support" can exist alongside a slagging off

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Big difference between slagging someone off, personal attacks, criticism and constructive criticism.

How is sounding off on an internet message board "constructive criticism"?

I'm not saying people shouldn't do it if they really want to but don't fool yourself, it's not constructive, it's just criticism.

It's about as useful and a lot more amusing IMO in my opinion.
